Hi everyone,

I have been trawling the forum for Flub dosages and have found

"If it is 2.5% Flubenvet, the correct dose is 1.2g per kg of feed. This ratio to be fed over 7 days and medicated feed left over after this is to be discarded."

which is fine as that's the strength I've got, but I don't yet know how much food my 7 girls eat, and I can't work out how to measure out the flub - my scales don't measure small enough to weigh it, and I've no idea what volume/mls it would equate to. :?

Normally I can do maths but converting weight to volume was never my strong point.

I just did my 5 girls last week :) .

My instructions say 5g to 4kg of feed.

I made up 1kg then realised that would only do about 1 or 2 days  . I then made up 4kg. I ended up throwing about half a grub away at the end. I did manage to weigh 5g of Flubenvet but the instructions say that is one rounded teaspoonful.

Edit: I have the 2.5% stuff :)

I never know how much my gannets guzzle either, so I mix up one measure....as I have the 1% mix it is one spoon measure as supplied with the tub with 2kg of feed....and mix it as per their recommendations............add the Flub to a small amount of feed, shake it well...then add more...& shake well .... then more etc until it's all incorporated.

I then mix another batch as & when it's needed & continue to feed them with the medicated mix for 7 days...keep a note of how many mixes you need so it's less faff the next time...guess who doesn't take her own advice  !

If you guestimate a quantity rather than mix it as you go, you could end up with a lots of food left over which in theory you should then ditch..........equally you could be surprised at how much they do actually eat.

Don't feed treats as they need to eat as much of the flub feed as possible & each chook will eat the quantity they need at the right dosage so "Ooops, word censored!"ody is over or under dosed.

Guess what I was doing before I came on here, ready to fill all the feeders tonight ready for tomorrow

If you work on 125 grams per bird per day your looking at 6.125 kg for 7 days

if my maths is right you need 7.35grams of Flubenvet

Thanks for that, I will make up 4 kilos and see how we go. I am going to get some calcium supplement today too and see if we can get them to start laying with shells again, instead of not-at-all/softy.

some cod liver oil might help to if you haven't already got some

And it would help the Flub stick to the pellets too!
