I Can't Believe it! More Poor Service

Recommended Posts

I have a car, I wont name the make here as I am giving them the chance to do the right thing but its a 'prestige' brand with a good reputation

It has two 12v 'cigarette' lighter sockets

I plug my sat nav in to one of the sockets about once or twice a week if that

The fuse for the sockets has blown twice (leaving me lost twice :lol: ) and the company are saying that the sockets arent meant to be used repeatedly or for other items and if something is plugged in more than once its 'repeated insertion' and the socket is not designed for that as it causes power surges

I dont know anyone who just uses the cigarette lighter socket for its 'official' use, everyone I know plugs in phone chargers, ipod radio thingys, sat navs etc... and you cant leave these things in permenantly as its a security risk

If the socket is only for a lighter why have two of them?!!!

I am really angry and feel I am being fobbed off, I have found a brochure from the manufacturer that advertises four different products that they recommend can be used with the 12v socket (coolbox, torch, sat nav and reading light) two are pictured IN the socket!

I have emailed them the brochure and am waiting for their response

Luckily its a company car so I am not paying for the repairs but I did sell my last sat nav as 'not working' for £22 and I am now beginning to wonder if it was actually broken

Sorry for the rant but I would expect better from this company

It does seem out of order Tasha, especially as they have the 2 cigarette lighters, what is it meant to be then? His and hers lighters, allow both driver and passenger to simultaneously light up

I think nowadays, they have become the plug socket of the car, and as such should be able to cope with "repeated insertion".

I think this prestige brand is being unreasonable. Stick to your guns and keep fighting :D

Don't you just get fed up of hearing feeble excuses from companies who don't want to accept responsibility? I know I do. It happens far too much nowadays. So much so that when you do receive a decent level of service you are immediately suspicious and look over your shoulder for the hidden camera.

my car is actually sold without a cigarette lighter in the 12v socket  as this manufacturer told me they are trying to stop people smoking whilst driving as it's hazardous (their words not mine before anyone jumps on me)

So I have two 12v sockets in my car which can be used for anything like a sat nav, ipod etc etc so don't give up it's principle and they are trying it on, shame on them, as I know who they are and they really should have better customer service than that.

My sat nav is permanently in the cig lighter plugged in no probs and its only a C3 car!

I would make sure next time your company renew their lease contract etc not to lease the brand of car that you have am sure there will be someone else happy to have your car business....I mean how much does a car cost these days£££££££££lots of it.

Hope they get it sorted for you how annoying

indie

As OH has his own company, he feels that any complaints should be sorted out immediately - by fobbing people off will stop them coming back to you and therefore you lose business. Perhaps bigger companies aren't so concerned.

Go for the jugular, girlie - or as Terry Pratchett would say Carpe Jugulum!
