Lidl Special 22.10.09

Recommended Posts

I am going to get to the shop early as I always seem to miss out the specials I am interested in. Thursday is my day off next week :D

I would like some of the pom pom type yarn to knit scarves for christmas presents, and a box of sewing threads. I was hoping they would have cotton yarn included as that makes great dishcloths, much better than dishcloth yarn or the expensive Peaches and Creme cotton yarn.

Ooo thanks for that. I shall be there on Thursday. I can never have too much wool etc. Mind you, I'll give the pom pom wool a miss. It is so hard to knit with. I bought a ball of the real stuff at nearly £9 a ball. It came with a pattern for a basic scarf. Mine looks so wrong. You have to knit a stitch, pinch the pom pom between your fingers & then knit 2 stiches, pinch the pom pom & knit 2 stitches again etc, then end the row with a knit stitch. 2 stitches between every pom pom. I can not do this & I'm a keen knitter. It's embarrassing  I'm also mad, as the wool wasn't cheap & I really wated that scarf!

Right guys - I've just opened my wool I bought today. It's the pink & white fontana wool. It has a scarf pattern in it - but it says 24 stitches...edge, garter 3, ss16, garter 3, edge.

What on earth is edge stitch? Not heard of that before. :?

What did everyone else buy?

I can't wait to do some more Amigurumi with my crochet hooks. 8)

Would that be a single knit stitch to prevent the scarf from folding in at the edges....my mum always advocates a single knit stitch at the start of a purl row to prevent folding/rolling in...I could be wrong.......I await an experienced knitters thoughts.........just phoned her & she's never heard of it & suggests as above, plain knit stitch at each end of the row :D

Good luck,

Thanks - I think it probably could be that yes, that would make sense.

I have so many projects on the go at the moment. At least I don't abandon them, I just do a bit of each every day. I've managed to finish my nephews cardigan back, now onto the right front.

I have Xmas trees, sheep, teddies, Scarves & lots of crochet on the go! :D

DPNS............err does this mean double ended needles, if so yes, and very fiddly it is too, but I've had a go & am persevering, no doubt Mum will have a few comments at the not so neat appearance of my end result, but it is my first time & I've muddled through on my own..........it's amazing how easy 2 knit 2 purl ribbing is to get wrong in such a small space :anxious:

I also got the Fontana scarf & am quite taken with the orange, pink, purple colourway........sounds :vom: but looks good so far
