My black rock - Maud crouched after she laid her first egg.

ooooh! exciting stuff!!! You just can't beat the feeling when you go down one morning and there it is, their first egg

She was scratching around in the nest box today too.

She was on growers pellets until I saw her crouch. Ooooops. So I just mixed in some layers. She's only 19 weeks old or so I thought! I noticed her comb and face turned red last week.

Not long now. Bianca's all grown up.

Oh it is so exciting, I bet we all remember the wonderful feeling of finding the very first egg, just nothing quite like it!

........... and she laid her first egg this afternoon! I watched her for ages as I was couldn't wait to find out what the colour and size of the egg was. It was a 48g almost white colour.

i was pleased with the size as my speckedly who has been laying since August still lays eggs from 38g to 54g!

 

She's only 21 weeks old, but maybe she was older when I got her!

 

So I'm on the way to getting an egg, maybe two everyday. yay.

Yes, but its because I am using the cat run as temporary accomodation while I integrate

Bianca and the lavender araucana with the other two.

 

It is funny to see her going throught the catflap though!

Hmm, I suspected that chickens can get through cat flaps! That means we'll have to make sure the cats wear the magnets on their collars and we use the locking thing on ours or the house will be full of chickens! They've already had a peck...
