wiganchooks
Hello Gratuitous posting of photos, hope that's ok, but I thought you might be interested in seeing the change in 1 month to our 3 ex-batts as one in particular has improved a lot. KC when she arrived: KC one month on: I should have taken a photo of the other end as her rear end is now a funky mixture of white fluff with purple ends as it was bare when she arrived and I was having to use the purple spray liberally as she was bullied a lot at first by Margaret. (This is the one I first came on here asking advice about.) Margaret when she arrived: And she's not changed much actually, just put on weight, so no new photo! She is still missing lots of her big thick outer feathers and they're not growing back yet. She does have lots of lovely warm white soft feathers though, and no totally bare patches. She's now good friends with KC. Hughes today (in rare spell between rain): Her only bald part was her chest and it's now sprouting. Hughes is the boss and is the bravest / first to work things out (she has just this week cottoned on to the joys of a dust bath in the litter tray, the others are still ignoring it). Enjoying pumpkin in their wind and rain proofed run:

Patricia W
Isn't there an EU plan to reduce the minimum space they can be kept in to below the size of an A4 piece of paper? I think the RSPCA was asking us all to sign a petition. Tricia

wiganchooks
There's some info on the 2012 changes and why some countries are lobbying against it here: http://www.ciwf.org.uk/what_we_do/egg_laying_hens/default.aspx There's also an e-petition to Tescos re selling and using battery eggs: http://www.ciwf.org.uk/what_we_do/egg_laying_hens/take_action/tesco/send_ecard/default.aspx P.S. I'm told that Margaret has taken umbrage at me saying she hasn't changed much and asks me to point out that her comb is now less floppy and she doesn't limp any more.
