One Man Banned
Have any of you played on one of these? I did on NYE and loved it - and I am not into these game consoles at all but love the way you can actually PLAY a game rather than get RSI in my thumbs. Ok so I ache a bit after doing 4 go's on the boxing (but I was inebriated at the time so didn't feel it then!) So I decided that I was going to get one, not an easy feat as they are sold out everywhere. Nevertheless I have still been trying to find one!! Had to go to Cribbs Causeway on the way home tonight so spent some time going round the Mall and other stores. Nearly charged through Toy's R Us as on their display stand it said "NOW HERE" with little tickets saying "No more than one per customer....." - so went to get one........they don't have any in stock, apparently head office won't let them take the signs down (odd how Gloucester branch didn't care and took the signs down ) Then went to Argos Extra and thought I'd try there, last ditch hope. Used the stockchecker and it said out of stock but press enter to check availability . So I did. "1 available to reserve for delivery due 4th January please go to a till to reserve the item" WHOOO HOOOOOOOO!!! It's due in at 0400 tomorrow and I will be sent a text when it's been checked off the delivery! I am SOOOOO excited - and I won't have to wait til February like everywhere has told me A x

theherd123
Andrew im really pleased for you!!! I have seen them on TV & liked the idea of 'playing' the game too but not too sure if we will get one - we bought a play station a few years ago and its just been collecting dust Might invite myself round to yours though! Cinnamon
You lucky boy Andrew I am sorely tempted to try a Wii myself, being a gamer living in a family of gamers We have always preferred the Ninetendo consoles to any other, and we would also be able to play our trusty old "Goldeneye" from the Nintendo 64 on this new console too. But,we thought we would wait & see how it went down with reviewers & friends before splashing out,so would love to hear how you get on with it. It is such a new way to game - exciting but I am not 100% that I want to spend that much just yet Do get the new Zelda game - I have played them all & they are the most fantastic games which will really suck you into their little fantasy world I promise you,you will love it - there are even chickens on it ! I won't expect to see you on the forum for several days now - you will be far too busy slaying beasties & chasing cyber-hens
SarahJo
Have fun ... Ben and Joe played with one of these on Xmas eve, at their Aunties house. I did not have a go ... but the boys LOVED it. My brother also managed to get one for my nephew in time for the 25th dec . They usually retail for about £170, I personally will wait till a) I have the spare cash, and b)availability picks up again, as I refuse to pay £500 on e-bay. Remember to tighten the strap of the controller ..... just incase it flies off your arm and through the tv screen.
Guest
We've got one - we were one of the lucky families whose pre-order arrived in time to present it to the children after lunch on Christmas Day. Everyone loves it - even me! I'm not really up for one of those 'sit-on-your-backside-and-twiddle-the-controller' type consoles, but this is fantastic - everyone, including my 74 year old dad, had a shot of it on Christmas Day, and everyone loved it. We were all playing each other at golf and bowling! It's been horrible weather here since Hogmany, so I've let the boys play it a couple of times to keep them amused, and they love the tennis - it's good to see them still jumping around like mad things, despite the bad weather. One Man Banned
Well I have every right to be smiling right now as currently set up in the living room is my shiny new Wii! People in the shop suddenly started asking for them as I collected mine - was going to ask for assistance to the car to protect me at one point! I absolutely love it, but Joe has just beaten me twice at the bowling (he didnt have a go at that on NYE!!!) Still got to get hold of another controller and Nunchucker for it but I suppose I can wait for an internet delivery (I am one of these who when they have made up their mind about a purchase I have to have it straight away ) Wont be buying any games for it yet as never been that "gamey" with these things so will take it slowly and get used to owning one. And I'll still make time to be on here!! A xx
Chickpea
I also preorded so was lucky to get mine for xmas! Have you thought about trying to get a copy of Wii Play? That comes with a free remote and I personally think is more fun than sports! I've now graduated onto the Zelda game, and recently noticed on my save file that I've managed to notch up 25 hours playing on it!
Cinnamon
Chickpea, what is the Zelda game like? It would be for that game only that I would buy a Wii...but I guess with your 25 hours of play, you must like it
gooner.girl
Can you get Mariokarts on the Wii? - that would be a big reason for me to get one!
Chickpea
Yeah Zelda is excellent and really addictive, graphics and music amazing, but I've still got so much to do on it!!! I shouldn't think it'll be too long until Mario Kart is released as it's such a popular game, it'll be great if it comes with it's own steering wheel! One Man Banned
well I had a look on Kelkoo last night and there is a sports pack of controllers available. It comes with a racket shape, a golf club and ...... a wheel. When I scrolled down the list the wheel isn't released on its own until March - and it's not too badly priced either.......... Now, where did I put my credit card A xx
Guest
I can thoroughly recommend Zelda - had a shot of chookiehubbies yesterday, and I think I'm addicted! Rubbish, but addicted!
Cinnamon
*groans* This is going to cost me money, isn't it? Is buying a new console for the sake of one game just too decadant? Thank goodness for Mastercard

Chickpea
That's the last temple I did it took me ages!!! I'm about to go into the desert, but I'm gonna hunt around for more insects and poes first before carrying on with the story. (that's the rest of my afternoon gone!) One Man Banned
Well today is going to be another busy day for me. Off into Gloucester to Curry's to get a Nunchuk and then down to Emerson's Green in Bristol to Argos to go get another Wii Remote - the last few days have been hellish trying to track these down! The trick I have found is go to each of these type of stores daily as they seem to be getting them in dribs and drabs and it's a sheer case of luck of the draw if you find one. I know I could have looked online but most of these items are ending at silly money on Ebay and I'd have to wait DAYS for them!! Online stores don't seem to be that much better at having stock with most saying "due in 3-4 days". A xx
Cinnamon
It will all be worth it Andrew I do think that they could have given the Wii (pronounced We)a better name. I always think of it as wee, rather than we.............
Cate in NZ
I do think that they could have given the Wii (pronounced We)a better name. I always think of it as wee, rather than we............. So do I Sarah Especially the first time when son informed me that he wanted a Wii for Christmas I'll leave you to imagine my somewhat flippant response (at the time I had no idea what he was talking about ). Son didn't get one for Christmas at all, I simply wasn't at all clued up about it, so didn't pre-order, and most definitely wasn't going to pay some of the inflated Ebay prices. Anyway, he's got a PS2, Xbox360, PSP and access to a PC........ is the Wii really all that different to justify that kind of expense when he's really not exactly short of electronic games
Lesley
I think all offices before Christmas must have had their share of "I'm just off for a Wii" The one I work in on Wednesdays was full of the (male) engineers all laughing at this highly amusing joke So was Carl's office They generally weren't smiling when they returned from a fruitless shopping trip
