Chick-a-doodle-doo
After checking mine at 4.45pm last night they had all gone up! lazy monkeys, it was only just going dark. Is this too early??
docsquid
Mine are all in bed by about 4.30, so I don't think it is too early. I make sure they are back in their run for about an hour before they roost, so they can settle down and have a final feed and preen in the dry of their run. So they get out to FR about 11.30 after their morning feed, and get to FR until about 3.15 or 3.30. Sometimes DH is weak-willed and lets them out earlier than 11am! Either way, they get a good long day of fun in the garden! If we're out, or if the weather is terrible, they have to stay in.
Slim
About 4:30 is normal for this time of year. My cameras turn off at 5pm at the moment.

Gelbel
It was so dark and horrible yesterday, it was even earlier. I reckon nearer 4.
Chicken Shirl
Mine go up into the trees well before dark, which is about 6.45 at the moment. They are roosting at about 6pm. Bless them, they must get very tired enjoying themselves all day.
Chucky Mama
About 4.45pm for mine - basically as soon as there isn't enough light left so can depend on the weather.
ali-s
Lily and elderly Bubbles have already gone into the Eglu for the night. The rescue girls stay up a bit later until about 4pm.

docsquid
Good job I just looked at this thread and then the time! Lucky chooks have had longer outside than normal today. I put them in the run about 3.50, and they went to bed about 4.20. Edited November 18, 2009 by Guest

Space Chick
Mine are in bed before I get home from work at 4.30pm, and are getting up before 6.15am (which is when I go out to them in the morning). Although OH came down for a glass of water at 4am the other day and from the light in the kitchen he could see Rose (our white girl) wandering around the WIR
coco
Mine have gone to bed by 4.30 and I have started letting them out about 7.15. Yesterday they wdidn't want to come out even then, I had to wait for them instead of the usual mad rush.
