Plum
Please can you help . I'm trying to do some quilting but the stitch keeps going wrong The problem is that for 6-10 inches the quilting is good then the top thread starts looping at the back. What is happening is the thread comes off the guide on top of the machine. I've rethreaded it loads of times and and rethreaded the bottom thread as well. I've turned the reel to face the other way but nothing has helped. Frustrating as I have loads to get on with. I only had my machine serviced a short time ago so can take it back under the service warrantee but it's a pain and it's probably something I'm doing. Any ideas? welovemarmite
on the top thread have you got a piece of plastic with a hold in that came with the machine? if you have try putting this over the plastic pin holding the top thread spool. (Does that make sense). If not take the spool of top thread off the machine and place it in a glass and try using it from there but still threading the machine as normal. I had a similar problem and it was to with the top thread loosing tension as the spool was jumping around. I have the plastic thing on it and now is not a problem. I also found it was less of a problem if you used a bigger reel of thread. Hope that helps.
Plum
Thanks the spool is held by a plastic disc and that seems ok but its the little metal round guide on top of the machine it bounces out of. There is a little spring in there, perhaps the tension of that is wrong.

Plum
That didn't work thread kept breaking and got jammed in bobbin race. Desperate times I'm changing the needle. and cleaning the fluff out.
Snowy
How frustrating! I also find a good defluff will cure daft problems. Have you checked your upper tension? Does changing it make any difference? Are you threading the machine with the presser foot up or down? It needs to be up whilst threading otherwise the thread does not pass between the tensioning discs and will go too loose. Sorry if you've already tried these

Plum
Still struggling, I have cleaned impacted fluff out around bobbin race. Would have thought that should have been done when serviced, it cost me £70. I have changed bobbin tension several times. I understand it should drop an inch or two when you drop it from the thread. I have kept changing the top tension and am still messing with that it seems to be getting better but not quite there. I didn't know about threading the machine with the foot up. Don't say its something as simple as that after all the blood and sweat I have shed this evening Thanks Snowy am going to try again.
Plum
No it's still the same. Sews ok then if I pick up speed the top thread is looping and jumping about. Needs to go back to shop so goodbye for another fortnight. Good thing I have my £79 machine to keep me going This better not cost me another £70. Thanks for advice girls, can always rely on the forum
