quickcluck
I've 2 chook houses... 10 are in a cube a 2 in an eglu....... As it's extreme weather at the moment, should we put the two in with the 10 of a night for warmth and seperate them in the morning???? thanks K
Tutti Frutti
I would (as long as you can whip them out first thing if they haven't been introduced properly yet)... I have 4 in an Eglu in WIR and they didn't feel as toasty this morning as I thought they would,,, but it was minus 3 here last night! I only know that cos I had to collect my DH from his Xmas party at gone midnight brrrrrrrrr!!!
Space Chick
I agree that I would put them in the cube if you can. Temperature fell to -6 here I can't believe how cold it is, so I would give them all as much body heat as possible. I have 12 in a cube and it is fine (and still room to spare) although I do have a few small girls.
Tutti Frutti
Or another thought... if you're worried about 12 in the cube, what about putting a couple of gentle ones from the cube in with your newbies in the Eglu? Depends on their characters, who you think will cope best with the change and cause least disruption. But my guess is sneaking 2 in with 10 is easier than 2 in with 2! But it's only overnight and they should all be asleep
dancing cloud
Because I got home late from work last night, I didn't notice that Sky had decamped from into , leaving Sun all on her own . I felt so guilty when I realised this morning . As it's forecast to be -4 here tonight, they are all going in the , even if it means waiting till they're asleep and sneaking one or two across. quickcluck
Thanks guys.... We put them all in together after they'd been inbed for a while. Bit of a nightmare as we had to take the eglu apart to get them out!!!! They naturally separated themselves this morning so will try again tonight...
