AJuff
I'm making a Christmas family journal this year. It's like a memory book. I came on here for inspiration for the cover . . . shall I make a button wreath or crotchet a snowflake . . . When It's finished I'll post it on here and add other bits and bobs I've been busy with. i have more time now!!!

Cooks
I like that idea why not make both the button wreath and the snowflake and see which one you prefer?? you can always use the spare for something else?
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
How about putting the wreath ROUND the snowflake?!
AJuff
I crotcheted two snowflakes last night and they look really lovely. I've ordered a sketch book to use as the journal itself and tonight I'm going to make a button wreath. I've sorted out tickets, photos, inspiration, magazine pictures and recorded the children's thoughts. I've printed out an internal cover and ordered some silver calligraphy ink to record the date. I'm very excited about putting it all together . . Oh and kids think I'm wasting my time . . I don't!!!

Sheilaz
. . Oh and kids think I'm wasting my time . . I don't!!! They may say that, but I'm sure the journal will be really poured over & appreciated over the years. It's great to have made it a beautiful record to keep, I admire your creativity, definitely a good use of time.
Valkyrie
It would become a terrific heirloom for future generations, don't forget. They may not be interested now, but when they have their own grandchildren asking about the family history, their memories may not be quite as good - and that's when your book comes into force! AJuff
Well here is the Christmas Journal!!!!! Kids got into it once they were invited to stick their bits in it and write comments. I'm off to pack it away in the loft with the Christmas things . . until next year! Thsi is the cover, I made a Christmas tree with buttons because the girls made lots of these this Christmas. DD put in some of her favourite music she played this year on piano and violin. Christmas letters to Santa went in! Cards, photos, sweet wrappers etc went in too! Eldest DD put together her pages, here's one with magazine cut outs of some of her gifts and orange writing about what her fave things are and a list of gifts. Kids did three pages each. DS had to have his PSP3 and Lego stuff in! Small DD put in photos and pics of her fave things plus fave cards and wrote in her best handwriting what her gifts were, what she liked and what she did on Christmas day!!! there was no stopping her! There's loads more stuff in like theatre/concert tickets and programmes, cracker jokes, etc, etc.
Snowy
That will be a fabulous memento in years to come! How lovely!
Valkyrie
I think that's really lovely. While clearing my bedroom out the other day I found my collection of letters from my nan and my mum and dad - even some from my brother who drew cartoons for me. Brought back lots of lovely memories - some even had my budgie chomping the edges of the paper. You'll find it was well worth the effort and something for the young'uns to enjoy time and time again. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Something to so so cherish. They're going to love this when they're older. Especially the M&S piglet party sweets packet! I saw a jigsaw in John Lewis the other day that was just a massive picture of loads of 1970s sweet wrappers. I was so nostalgia kicked, I took a photo of it!
