Griffin
I thought I had it all sorted, three boys and two girls from Tiger Lilys September hatch. The boys have 'departed', two of them had started to crow so it was obvious what they were too! So that left me with Doris the silver laced Poland and Pamela the crele Poland, both are bearded and very sweet. Now I'm having doubts. Pamela could be Mick instead She has a tiny tiny horn for a comb but she is 17 weeks so the appearance of some headgear wouldn't be a surprise. It's certainly nothing like I saw in the boys. Her hair-do is changing, she's growing heaps of new feathers in it so it does look a bit messy at the moment. Most concerning of all is the sprouting of bright orange hackle feathers. I don't want Pamela to be Mick but I'm begining to think she is

Patricia W
S/he looks a lot like my gold-laced black frizzle Poland - who is certainly a girl. I thought 4 of my polands were boys so took them back to the breeder when one crowed. He was certainly male but the other 3 we brought back as they are girls. I was told to look out for the following signs. - boys have more red round the tops of their beaks - the back feathers feel " harsher" in boys and " softer" in girls - the hackle feathers are more pointed. The most reliable sign though is the " crow" which comes at about 20-25 weeks! I hope Pamela is a she - but if not, he will be lovely! Griffin
The most reliable sign though is the " crow" which comes at about 20-25 weeks! "Ooops, word censored!"ody told that to the white crested black who crowed from about 12 weeks!
Daphne
I'm not venturing any more guesses - its too hard However, I'd ignore the horn comb clue as I think both sexes have them - I certainly have a girl with a horned comb, tho now her hairdo has grown back after cockeral attentions you can't see it. Redwing
hmm there are a couple of swooping feathers there and the hairdo is quite broad and messy, I'd say boy but of course can't be sure

madchickenlady
I am hedging towards boy based on the crest feathers, but to be honest it could go either way. Not very helpful, sorry!
