mostin
Written by Shaun dictated by Mostin "Due to severe migraine beginning last night i may have made a couple of strategic errors with the colouring. 1) Forgot to write down who i had coloured with what immediately after doing it. After a couple of hours i wrote it down but wasnt sure 2) Bought blue green and black colour dyes which may look the same on hens eggs. RESULTS as predicted molly and rosie were on strike today, so even though i coloured them with red and blue it was to no avail. there was an egg in the cube coloured, query, blue / green / black. On the positive, Yay the system works. negative. dont know who laid it. One good positive result - there was an egg painted yellow which i know was ex-batt daisy as i matched the colour dye to her leg ring. her first eggs that i know off since arriving in May. I am quite happy for her to have a henopausal retirement but its good to know she is healthy. Shaun thinks it may be easier to use small spray bottles rather than pieces of cotton wool cant wait to try this. or even to use the purple spray 1 girl at a time"

mostin
again written by shaun as he wont let mostin on the puter until she is fully better. "more results, the food dye still works after a couple of days, i collected eggs from the newbies and one of them was stained with blue. This means its Molly thats laying and not Rosie. So you dont have to do it everyday for it to work, which i did not realise."

Valkyrie
Didn't have to resort to the dye - Murray couldn't find the silkie and eventually found her in the nest box - she gave him a good mouthful and he was so startled he couldn't get the door back on quick enough!
