Space Chick
As I know that you lot are as foody as me, I thought you would appreciate my write up on my tour of Michelin starred restaurants on my holiday. This was a foody lovers delight, and had taken OH and I several years to save for this holiday. However it was well worth it as we "ate Michelin" for 6 out of our 7 nights away Food list and review below: Joel Robouchon - Las Vegas 3 stars Amuse Bouche - Caviar Surprise (Fennel mousse, crab, fennel jelly topped with a layer of caviar. Starter - Mushroom soup with shaved black truffle and veal raviolli Main - Duck and foie gras with sweet and sour vine fruits Dessert - Cheesecake with tropical granite Petit fours - Choice of over 40 handmade chocolates Review- A truly unique and incredible dining experience. The service was phenomenal. This restaurant has a waiting list a several months, we had booked our table in the summer. This is a dining experience that takes a long while to save for, as one of only a handful of 3 Michelin starred restaurants worldwide, the meals range from around $200 to $400 dollars per person. Needless to say we went for the cheaper end but still ended up paying for one meal what we would normally spend on food shopping in a month Bradley Ogden - Las Vegas 1 star Amuse Bouche - Pineapple, Banana and Huckleberry Smoothy Starter - Foie Gras with Belgium Waffle and Huckleberry jam Main - Chicken with Kale and Puy Lentil stew Dessert - Butterscotch Pudding Petit fours - None Review- A little disappointing. The chicken dish (which was free range ) was too salty and the balance on the starter was not quite right. The service was excellent however. L'Atalier - Las Vegas 1 star Amuse Bouche - None Starter - Caviar of Egg Plant Main - Halibut with veg broth Dessert - Champagne Sabyon with hibiscus jelly and vanilla sponge Petit fours - None Review- This was a "cheap and cheerful" Michelin meal as we went for a pre-show special, hence the lack of amuse bouche and petit fours. Everything tasted divine, a stunning meal One Market - San Francisco 1 star Amuse Bouche 1 - Mango sphere Amuse Bouche 2 - Fresh Oyster with cumin Starter 1 - Crab salad with Jalapeño sorbet Starter 2 - Grilled Octopus with black garlic and soy air Main 1 - Black Cod with leeks, chamomile and almonds Main 2 - Duck Breast with duck leg confit, kale and pickled figs Main 3 - New York steak with dandelion and salsify Dessert - Caramel Pecan Pie Petit fours - Salted chocolate almonds Review- We had gone for the Chef Taster Menu, so had small portions of all of the above. The food and service was all great. The Mango Sphere was a real taste sensation. I had found out about this restaurant through watching Hells Kitchen USA as this was where Gordon Ramsey had taken some of his contestants to appreciate great food. Gordon Ramsey was not wrong Fifth Floor - San Francisco 1 star Amuse Bouche - Shrimp Cevice Starter 1 - Sashimi Starter 2 - Red Lentil Soup with steak tartar Main 1 - Sake Duck with citrus fruit and cabbage Main 2 - Lamb fillet with lamb breast, porcini mushroom and parsnip Pre-Dessert - Guava and basil seed soda Dessert - Almond tart, almond ice-cream and cherries Petit fours - A selection of handmade sweets and chocolates Review- This was a recent recipient of a Michelin star. The food was great, however the service was a little slow. Above was the Chefs Taster Menu One Market - San Francisco 1 star Amuse Bouche - Beetroot sphere with caviar Starter - Venison Carpacio with foie gras Main - Short rib of beef with cabbage and white corn grits Dessert - Chocolate soufflé with white chocolate cream and cappuccino ice-cream Petit fours - None Review- Yes, we went back to this restaurant!!! This second visit was New Years Eve, and whilst they officially had no availability they managed to squeeze us in As you can hopefully see, I had a fabulous foody week, and amazingly have only put on 4lbs (Although we didn't eat lunch at all, only breakfast and dinner )
