Coop light problems!

The picture below was a chick that was hatched by friends from a batch of ebay eggs last Summer. It was a mixed batch of eggs, so could be anything!

 

I wonder if perhaps it's a he - what do you think and do you have any idea what breed it might be?

hmmm, how big is it?

 

There could be some Hamburg blood in there, possbly Rosecomb but the comb is more Hamburg as the Rosecomb's comb is more neat and narrow

I wondered that at first (the combs are different), but looking at the chunky legs - some sort of game bird?

I've got cross eyed looking at the Feathersite. Some fantastic birds on there - including a Korean one with a black comb - looks strange not being red.

I thought that (above) but ther combs are quite narrow

I agree, and the white lobes seem too big in the pics. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I've passed back your thoughts and observations. To my untrained eyes, there's not much difference in the pictures between a Minorca or a Rosecomb! However, the ebay eggs were suposed to be pure breed bantams, so I think we're on the right track.

 

The pictures of the females that people kindly linked to are exactly how the bird looks at present. On the minorca pictures there's a big diffrerence between 4-6 months on the combs so will be interesting to see what happens in the next four to six weeks.

No idea, but let us know what they decide on

Six months on, and look he he turned into

 

 

Certainly not a bantam!! He's very big, and very loud!!! He's also very aggressive to any passing humans, so has to be kept inside the run most of the time .

He looks like a big version of a rosecomb.

 

Maybe he is a mix of many different breeds.
