What are you eating to keep out the cold?

Recommended Posts

One good thing is that I'm using my breadmaker again. I'd sort of given up as I was the only one eating it. I don't think the boys trust my breadmaking talents

But as we were running out of bread I thought I'd give it another go and ES has actually been eating it. Probably because its white bread, he's such a heathen :lol:

I'm doing an oven roasted chicken thigh recipe from Good Housekeeping magazine tonight, its got spices and swede and cauliflower in it. Handy really as thats basically the only veg I've got left now.

I really must go shopping tomorrow. :?

We've having homemade tomato sauce on pasta - OH adores it. He is having to cut out red meat/cholesterol except once a week for quite serious health reasons, and we haven't got any fish, chicken etc left. I can't say this is an enthralling prospect because it doesn't involve fat and feeling full. At this rate he will halve in size whilst I double  I will probably get to have some prawns in mine and I am already fantasising about whether to get the cheese grater out with all that lovely cheddar - stuff the parmesan its not satisfying enough! And possibly butter or olive oil on the pasta. Its snowing AGAIN and I am really hoping that tomorrow he will be able to take me to the opticians at Tesco and then to do the shopping. PS I'm not usually this greedy/obsessed; it must be the cold!

This weather is really helping me to empty my freezer, can't get to the allotment so I added frozen carrots (last years crop which have been in the freezer since Feb last year) and celery to my meat sauce for my lasagna along with loads of onion and peppers to bump up the veg then served it with frozen sweetcorn. I also used some frozen homemade roasted tomato and basil sauce from the summer crops of both.
