Musical eglus anyone ?

Recommended Posts

I'm working today so left OH in charge of 5 chickens. Three live together in the RED eglu and I'm integrating another 2 with them and who live in the GREEN eglu. To understand this, you have to know I also have a GREEN cube currently empty.

When I left 4 were free ranging together, the bully, Teddie having been separated by netting so she could only get into the RED eglu from whence she had come. The other 4 had access to the GREEN eglu and a closed GREEN cube.

My idea was to return everybody from whence they had come for the night.

HOWEVER...... a few minutes ago I had a phone call to say-

Teddie had escaped and joined the others. She was found beating Joy up so OH had shut her in the GREEN eglu in the nest box( after quite a saga apparently!) The two permanent residents of the GREEN eglu are shut in the GREEN run on a perch.

In the RED eglu nest box is Phillipa who lives there - and Phillip who should be with her - is all by himself in the GREEN cube! So a bit of sorting out needed!

Major problem is that apart from Phillip the other four look very alike in the dark - and did OH get their names right?? Where will everyone end up?

Luckily the other four in the BLUE cube haven't been out today - as far as I know....

Got home last night to find he HAD got the names wrong. It wasn't Teddie doing the pecking but Phillipa and poor maligned Teddie hadn't escaped to join them at all. She was the one still in the RED eglu, and it was Phillipa in the GREEN.

So, I reunited Phillipa and Teddie with Phillip and they all spent the night in the GREEN cube leaving the RED eglu abandoned. ( The other two were left in the GREEN eglu, but with the nest box now opened)

So, as I'm back at work today, to hopefully avoid any re-occurrence, I've only left him with 3 free ranging from the GREEN cube and locked everybody else up. Now, he can't get into anymore trouble - can he???
