Festival of Quilts @NEC

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'm back home after my weekend at FoQ. I came back with just 2 quid left in my purse :lol: Did some great little workshops where I learnt loads and met lots of lovely ladies. The quilts on display were amazing, the overall winner was a minature and was just beautiful. My favourite quilt was Pauline Ineson's floral applique quilt it was just stunning. :)

I saw the decopatch man too, agree with Emily, he had lovely papers but I managed to resist buying from him - just! However I couldn't resist buying the half price V&A liberty fabrics, Amy Butlers new book of bags, a new light, buttons, silks, a whole box of maderia threads, a minature foundation pattern of little sailing boats, and I can't remember what else until I finish unpacking my bags

Met up with the Mrs & Little Miss Webmuppet for a quick chat which was lovely - hope you got home safe and sound. :)

Got to put everything away now and get back on with the wedding preparations, only 9 days to go now

Do you mean the bag one, Style Stitches? If you do I bought that one. But she also has a baby one out as well, didn't get that one.

I wanted a new bag pattern then saw a beautiful bag made up and the pattern for it was in the book. There are probably 3 or 4 bags that I would make and use, and a few that I won't make. I like the book, lovely photography and I like the fact that the patterns are full size. :)

Hi, We got back to my folks in Peterborough eventually on the train. Some idiots had stolen some of the cable used for the signalling system at Nuneaton...............we were 45 mins late by the time we got into Peterborough.

I had about £6 left after the show............Little Miss Webmuppet blew that on food at Birmingham New Street Station.

We got loads of fabric, two templates, a book (one of the Quilt in a Day books) some wadding and LMW has a fancy french knitting thingy.

The Quilt in a Day book is 'Tennesse Waltz' by Sue Bouchard. I saw the programmes with that Eleanor Burns (with the most annoying voice) while I was off with the Swine Flu earlier this year and though hey I could do that so while we were at the show we set about looking for the book.

I also managed to get the triangle template thingy ( as needed to do part of the pattern) off Creative Grids and then bought a big pile of fabric from Sunflower Corner Quilting for the grand sum of £15. I picked up sufficent fabric at the show to do most of the quilt and it wont have cost me more than about £30. I will just need to get some fabric to do the borders when I get that far.

I won't be starting it just yet as I have 2 quilts to finish for Christmas and I have a Log Cabin Quilt to finish first. I just couldn't resist getting a pile of bargin fabric in (afterall if this coming winter is anything like last winter I shall need to have plenty to keep me occupied)
