Ginfiend
We're hoping to find some new girls for our lonely Doris, and I was wondering if there are any breeds that are known for not being big diggers? Doris is a Pepperpot and since installing woodchip in the run (over soil and a bit of lawn) she's been digging for Australia. If we get 2 more fervent diggers, we'll be clearing woodchip off the roof, let alone the rest of the garden!
Space Chick
Feathered feet girls tend to dig less.
chuckmum6
My two pekins don't dig, oh no, they stand at the side of my other girls who can spread my garden over a huge radius with just one little flick, they then they move like lightening and whip out the worms before the hen who is demolishing the garden gets a look in! This confused hen then digs down deeper spreading more garden and so it goes on. On occasion they do get their own back on the Pekins by flinging a whole load of bark over the thief with a quick crafty change of trajectory. It keeps me entertained for hours! jackthelad
My silkie hasn't read the book that she should not dig, she digs to Australia on a daily basis! This week OH has had to put extra wood around bottom of WIR as im sick of sweeping up. Bluebelle digs a hole but moves 2 inches further along and fills her original hole in and the Polish doesn't dig at all just sits in the other two's holes! Couperman
Ours used to dig a lot. I cured them. I hid the spade! Sorry, Kev.
Groovychook
Ours used to dig a lot. I cured them. I hid the spade! Sorry, Kev. I've let my four free range throughout the whole garden over the past few weeks, thinking that they couldn't do too much damage at this time of the year. Fail!! They are normally contained behind netting but the ground was so frozen around their run that I felt sorry for them. Needless to say, the netting is going back up and pekins are going on my wish list!

Lesley
Barnevelder Bantams don't dig - ours still have loads of grass while the next pen with big girls in is a sea of mud!
