Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

The brown ones look like Warrens which is what I have. Not sure about the black one though. I'm sure someone else will come along soon.

I am by no means an expert, but the black one looks exactly like my Mabel who is a Bovans Nera.

I'd say you have two ginger nut rangers/warrens/isa browns (Same thing, different names depending on who is selling them) and one blackrock/Mrs Pepperpot/Bovans nera (Again different names, same bird)

Lovely set up and I like the idea of the extra run

 

Breed wise, Brown ones are Warrens/Gingernut Rangers/ISA Browns and the Black ones are Blacks Rocks/Bovans Nera/Copper Black Maran.

 

It depends on who you got the from?

Thanks, we inherited the runs from the previous owner of the girls and fixed it all up yesterday.

 

Good to have an idea what the girls are too. The warrens (etc) makes a lot of sense given their egg production. Will they be shorter lived because of the high no. of eggs they lay?

 

 

This is Biryani close up, in the sun her black feathers have a beautiful green sheen. (There are close ups of Korma on there too)

I'm guessing they came from Omlet along with the Cube so they are probably a Miss Pepperpot and Gingernut Rangers.

 

No, the Rangers won't live shorter lives they just may stop laying sooner and may suffer things like prolapses as they will have worn their egg laying material out.

No, we bought the cube, the chickens were amongst 10 that a friend needed to rehome as he was emigrating. He had 4 blacks, 5 reds and a white Silkie cockerel, but he didn't know what breeds they were.

 

Will have to watch for prolaspses then

Like the tall run attached to the cube, and good idea to give them more run room

 

Can't add to the breeds though

and is the easiest - maybe room for a couple more later in the year

The one on the left looks exactly like my Omlet chicken which is a pepperpot and the one on the right could be a Gingernut ranger.
