Space Chick
Of course you want more It is the Omlet way I was going to stop at 4, then 1 died, so I wanted one or two more, but at that point I decided to build the WIR, so instead of 1 or 2 I got 4 Then I decided to rescue 3 ex batts, I was definitely going to stop at 10, then Palmer 07 came for a visit, and told me about 2 chickens that I would love, so I added them, and then on Sunday I fell in love with the little Brahma Bantam but of course it wouldn't be fair to introduce 1, so I had 2 thanks to Redwing. I am now at 14, and am definitely finishing at 14 I hope........
Cooks
I was staying at 2 I am at 5 and soon to be 7 it's terribly addictive
Chicktastic
I know how addicitve they are so got 4 as a starting point!! xx
quickcluck
I wanted 4, but got 6, then added 2 and lost one, got 3 beautiful orps and lost one, then found 2 lovely marans Really wanted bantams, but the large/small thing could be a problem so came across 2 Skylines. = 14 Totally full up! docsquid
I know the feeling! I have 3, want two more but am not allowed! There is no way I could sneak in an extra 2, so it will have to be by virtue of gentle pressure and persuasion. I love my 3, but I need more chooks! veggiemad
me too!! i have 3 ex batts and 1 cube- hence i want a full cube!!! WIR coming on saturday , got a new classic on the way for intros then hopefully upto 8 - i would've gone to 10 but WIR size had to be reduced!!! Redwing
yup theyre certainly addictive I have 5 pens in my 200ft garden and the rest are in a field and stables behind the house - a couple of Omleteers have quite a few chickens in a standard size garden - they are careful about hygiene and chook management and dont seem to have any problems
Pikey
I just started with 2 now have 9 But like you want more........just don't have the physical space in the garden......however am looking to move so things could change....or is that increase
Cooks
yes one of my stipulations for the next house is a HUGE garden... preferably with its own orchard... well I can dream!
Pikey
yes one of my stipulations for the next house is a HUGE garden... preferably with its own orchard... well I can dream! Funnily enough so is mine.....my OH is not impressed tho as my criteria for a house is based on whether it is suitable for the chickens and cats ....don't understand what the problem is myself
Cooks
seems perfectly reasonable to me...

Pikey
I've got 7 but could end up with 8 on Saturday Didn't think you should get just one chicken to introduce to your current flock.....whoops looks like for welfare reasons you are going to end up with 9 on Saturday
Cooks
I've got 7 but could end up with 8 on Saturday not a gradual 2 here and there ... 6 that made me giggle I've got 7 but could end up with 8 on Saturday Didn't think you should get just one chicken to introduce to your current flock.....whoops looks like for welfare reasons you are going to end up with 9 on Saturday your right it's always best to add chickens in pairs with a slow introduction (seperate accomodation for a while and supervised FRing)

tom123
Addictive? Chickens? Ha! Where on earth did you get that idea? I keep some at my yard and the rest on a small rented paddock. Ask around the farmers and stable owners to see if they have a small bit of scrubby land you can use P.S. As I'm sure Pikey will agree, don't let me talk to you in to getting more, I'm very good at it I started with 2 and now nearly have
Bunnyish
lol me and my bf looking to buy a house together... the main thing im looking for is big ol garden for thq current 10 and then moooooooooore... got my eyes on... 1 light sussex 1 buff orpington 1 rhode island red 1 black rock 1 white star ... at the moment.... but think i would get in trouble!! plus i dont think i can sneak 5 in unnoticed... but when we do buy... and have a long garden.... with some nice mature trees.... there will be plenty of hiding places.. mwhahaha
Treekeeper
I agree I normally wouldn't get just one but one of my warrens died and the dealer is going to give me another one However saying that I did just that last Sunday when I got my as yet unamed Cream Legbar she went straight in to the existing flock with no pecking order problems at all she just strolls round with her daft haircut as if she has been there all along
Cooks
you were very lucky, that isn't the norm
Treekeeper
Believe me I know! I sat out all weekend with one set of introductions because the reactions were so violent, and they were behind wire but it didn.t stop 'em trying to rip each other to pieces. I did gradual introductions and was still severely clenched when they did FR together finally now it's all settled down and you wouldn't think that a couple of weeks ago they were gonna tear each other to bits. I wonder if its because the cream legbar looks the same as the gold legbar that they can't tell the difference???
Space Chick
I doubt it I am introducing a Gold Legbar who looks similar to my Cream Legbar and Wernlas Olive, but my Wernlas Olive has taken exception to her
