yes I saw it the other week with Falkor, it's not a film I would rush to see again, but it is ok I read the book before so I think it spoiled it for me really.

Not seen the film but thought the book was fantastic. I always worry that the film will be a let down if I've enjoyed the book but interested in what others think.

I haven't seen it but some of our teachers went together...we used to teach Reece Ritchie several years ago.

My MIL went to see it last week, she wasn't overly impressed. Said it wasn't as good as the book. It didn't transfer from book to film as well as she'd have liked it to.

Loved the book, but probably won't see the film. I was so disappointed in the film of the Time Traveller's wife, and and have a niggling idea that this might be similarly badly done.

I thought it was good, quite edge of your seat in 1 place. They didn't get the whole 'heaven' thing right though in my opinion which for me was a big part of the book. Worth a watch though I think.

I am very reluctant to watch a film of a book which i have read, they usually disappoint or irritate me.

 

Prime examples being Bridget Jones, and Attonement. ED has refused to watch the second Twilight film after bing very disapointed with the first one.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I will give it a miss. I too have been disappointed with films/programmes after reading the books....

 

The True Blood series is a great example..... also years ago the Jeffery Deaver book the Bone Collector...

I am probably just repeated what has already been said but.....

 

I read the book a good few years ago and loved it........until the ending

 

The film was ok but I expected to be as moved as I was by the book but only one tear was shed on my part. Kleenex that Cookie had given me at the start was bone dry and not needed at all.

 

I agree I don`t think they got the heaven bit right and I have gone back to the book to check bits since and they missed out a lot of the depth to the scenes that I thought were integral and the reasons for the story.

 

Cookie will confirm that as soon as the titles were rolling we were up and out of our seats and i said "Well that annoyed me!"

I wasn't impressed with the heaven scenes at all , the only good bit was the ending was better. I was nearly falling asleep in the heaven scenes (not something i usually do either) very psychedelic waffle.

I also thought that whilst the actress was good she was far too 'young' and looked and acted younger that her older sister and was too young for her relationship with her love interest to be credible - she was much too childlike. Oh and the underground place where she was killed was ridiculously well furnished, it was like a bloomin' underground house with great lighting, furniture, the works
