Redwing
I cant believe that the police didnt get to the bottom if it at the time of the incident! there was one eye witness, the video and the poor lady whose car was pushed and yet they classed it as a simple prang

Stevie
I watched same thing happen right infront of me on the M25 once few years back when a foreign left hand drive truck pulled into middle lane and didnt see the VW Golf on his right side.He pushed her atleast 1500yds before comming to a stop. The poor woman in Golf was understandably terrified. This is a really common incident now due to their right side being almost completely blind so beware of passing trucks with foreign number plates. The lorry in the film however is apparently normal UK right hand drive from what they said on radio so my guess is he/she is a small person and couldnt see the Clio onfront of vehicle after side swiping it. I used to be a lorry driver so know how hard it is to see cars and especially so when they're close behind or in the blind spot.My advice-keep your distance, give them the respect they need and remember-if you cant see its mirrors-he cant see you.Stay safe out there. Cinnamon
Good grief. It never seems to slow down, either. How on earth did the car get itself into that position in the first place, too?
bluekarin
I heard about this yesterday but didn't realise quite how much he was pushing her along the road. I am shocked! I am doubly shocked the police are treating it as a "damage-only collision" That is really scary. If I'd been in the car I'd have been terrified. Just watched it again - why was the lorry in the middle lane anyway? There is no one in the slow lane
The Dogmother
Good grief, that defies belief.

Martin B
Saw something very similar myself a few months ago where a lorry pushed the car sidewards for a distance. Caused a huge blockage on the motorway.
Chucky1
This was really scary. I just can't believe the police response
chickenNutter
Saw something very similar myself a few months ago where a lorry pushed the car sidewards for a distance. chickric
Saw this on the news last night . Scary but at least the car stays upright and just gets shoved along, it would be much worse if it flipped out and went spinning and tumbling along the road. docsquid
One of our friends is an HGV driver. He says it happens quite regularly, although it is very unusual for the lorry driver to fail to see the car. The usual cause is when a HGV has pulled out to let a driver join the motorway, and the car driver thinks he can nip out in front of the HGV into the middle and then outside lane to overtake a slower vehicle in the inside lane, rather than waiting for the lorry to pull back in. They often misjudge the gap, and clip the rear wing of the car on the front of the HGV, leading to the car flipping round in front of the cab. The HGV driver should be able to notice this and stop though!
Seagazer
You would think seeing as the car is sideways on that the lorry would feel it as the car tyres wouldn't be going round would they? Surely it should have caused some resistance? I think its scary how fast the lorry appears to be going
bluekarin
Just seen on the BBC news website the police are now investigating this incident. The lorry driver was sent home on Wednesday after the footage appeared on the internet. BBC-LINKY
The Dogmother
I saw that in the paper - seems that he had no idea that he'd hit and was pushing a car along I was talking about it to a friend who drives 'artics' for Asda, he reckons that the driver was probably watching his dashboard TV
chickenanne
I can sort of understand how the lorry driver wouldn't see the car once it was in that position. But you would think that they'd be aware of cars around them beforehand enough to realise what had happened.
The Dogmother
You'd be surprised at how few are aware of other vehicles around them; if I am overtaking a lorry, i get out of their blind spot as fast as possible. I know a few truck drivers and the tales that they tell are hair-raising.
