Janty
They were having a lovely time playing in a plant pot in their run.

Janty
They do love their run. I want to hatch some of their eggs after Easter but I am not sure what to put the offspring in that will be as natural and comfortable an environment as the run. I have been looking at these... http://www.hen-house.co.uk/html/thrippett.html They are a local company and the houses would fit perfectly in the side borders of the garden (I am taking over). They will also adapt the houses so that there is perspex instead of wire in the top for shelter with wider opening hatches for easier access. Lesley
They look great Janty - would you need a mesh floor to deter rats?
Janty
What I was planning on doing was digging a hole the size of the cage and run in the border and then putting in a thick, flat wire grill sort of thing at the bottom of the hole and then making a readimix concrete surround that the cage and run would sit on (similar to my WIR but on a much smaller scale). This could be in-filled with soil and aubious for the quail to scrab about on. Does that make sense? I know that it sounds like a lot of work but I do like to see my quail dustbathing in their litter.
Lewis
Sounds great for them!! They do look good, if a little bit expensive - but look really well made The chicks look like little bumble bees when they're all crowded under the heat lamp

They have Aubiose to scrat about in.
