Giving up sweets and cakes this time. Taking up talking more loudly to the girls - neighbours think I am nuts already as they caught me chatting to Clara the other day and bocawing at her....bocaw...boc..boc...boc..bocaw. She answered as well!!

Well of course she did - they understand totally what we say to them :D

This year Immi & I are giving up meat again. A bit of a cheat really as we eat very little meat anyway, but I can't go the whole hog and go vegan, I don't eat chocolate (well very rarely  ) and I'm not giving up alcohol  .

Hubby & son don't feel able to give up meat, bacon sandwiches are the sticking point and they're not able to give them up  , so they've both decided to stop drinking anything but water  . More wine for me then

So much for the Lenten discipline thing though...... we're not exactly giving ourselves challenges, more like easy options, although I can just see hubby ordering a nice big glass of mineral water next time he heads off for a trip to the pub :lol::lol::lol::lol:

I nearly always give up chocolate & sweets. I don't eat many sweets, but chocolate! A real endurance test.

I'm undecided.

OK, decision made, I'm giving up chocolate & sweets, so please don't talk about it too much!

We've all urged OH not to give up alcohol...he was unbearable one year when he did...couldn't talk (or grump) about anything except how good a beer would be. Never again!

Oh dear Sheila, I can't help feeling that I'm going to get this experience as well. I'm not looking forward to him missing his beer, tea and coffee. He's likely to be very grumpy

Good luck with the chocolate. Sounds like a real challenge. Easter eggs to look forward to then :D:D

We always stop eating sweets and chocolate. This year is no different.

Last year we were vegan, which was very hard. But we learnt a lot from it and have made a few changes to our diet because of it.

This year our aim is a discipline. We are going to make sure we eat 5 fruit or vegetables a day. I suspect that I only manage 4 most days. We have made charts for the kitchen door so that we can record what we've eaten. Everyone has gone off today with a portion of fruit as an extra snack and I will be sending carrots with packed lunches!

I'm also monitoring how much water I drink and how many steps I walk.

That sounds lovely Emma! Perhaps you could whizz up some extra for me?

I have chopped apple, linseeds and yoghurt for my breakfast. OH makes it for me before he goes to work! :)

When I was visiting a parishoner this morning she asked me if I was giving up chocolate for Lent. I said no and she replied "oh good" and proceeded to explain that she had given up chocolate but is a member of a chocolate tasting club and had been sent a large box of chocolates so could I please take them! I've now got a box of Hotel Chocolat chocs sitting on my desk :? Perhaps I should go round the parish offering to help people out by collecting and consuming chocolate and alcohol  (I'll share it with you if you like!)
