What are you giving up for Lent?

Recommended Posts

I was listening to pause for thought this morning on the radio and they were suggesting rather than giving something up, do something worthwhile instead - being nice to your boss was one of the suggestions.........

I was nice to my boss today....well, I would have been if he'd been there!:lol:

Nice lateral thinking - you'll soon be pushing the envelope and thinking outside of the box

This year our aim is a discipline. We are going to make sure we eat 5 fruit or vegetables a day. I suspect that I only manage 4 most days. We have made charts for the kitchen door so that we can record what we've eaten. Everyone has gone off today with a portion of fruit as an extra snack and I will be sending carrots with packed lunches!

I'm also monitoring how much water I drink and how many steps I walk.

I'll join you in this one Ginette.

I already start the day with a smoothie - banana, yoghurt and milk and any other fruit going - usually blueberries.

I have to be careful not to eat 5 portions of fruit and ignore the veggies.

Don't forget to use your broad brush technique whilst having your thought shower!

..I mean......what a load of tosh.

....People go on courses to learn this twaddleyfied management speak for the sole purpose of being able to teach it to others....Jargon. Arrrrrgh!!!!

The examples preceding this made me laugh, so thanks everyone.

 Agree with everything you said, Egluntine. Twaddleyfied, a most excellent word, I shall use it henceforth. :D

Thank you for not mentioning chocolate, which has been the main topic for 2 pages since I said I was giving it up.

:D Should I make you a little table to fill in too Lesley?

I'm quite happy to eat blueberries and raspberries - but I'd have to keep going shopping  - and I will always eat a banana, but I don't really get an urge to eat apples and oranges, pears are too messy and I've gone off strawberries. So fruits aren't really my thing and vegetables can be too much effort to prepare! (I do them for everyone else, just not for me!) So I'm really hoping this Lenten discipline will instil in me some new eating habits.

Just got in from our Ash Wednesday service to see DS has written strawberry jam as one of his fruit/vegetables! He has added an :!: as well!
