Hello,

 

I read a review that complained about not being able to put an eglu against a wall or in a corner due to having to access it from the back to clean it and things.

 

Well, that is what i was hoping to do!

 

How much space do i need to open the back fully?

I would recommend at least a metre to be honest.

 

You could put the eglu right up against a fence, but that would mean removing the top, every time you wanted to clean them out. Defeats the purpose of the pull out droppings tray, but doable.

It'll be the same height as the back to open the door and the same length so you can pull the trays out. The measurements are on the products part of the website

Without actually measuring it, I'd say you need at least the length of the eglu itself. The poo tray is about the same length as the base so you need that much space to pull it out.

The picture below shows how I had mine. There was just enough room to pull out the poo tray. After you pull it out half-way, you can turn it slightly, which helps reduce the overall distance of travel. In the picture below, each panel of my WIR is 3ft wide, and as you can see, the gap is just short of that.

Since I've had my second sat on a table above the I've realised how well that idea works. I don't have a turntable, but the still whizzes around very easily on the Formica surface of the table. Being at body height it's so easy to do the clean - take's half the time of doing the lower one that's under the table.
