We have just put our 3 girls to bed and we were wondering if hens slept and if so for how long?

They also make really cute noises when they sleep

 

The amount of time they nap for depends on the sunlight, as a part of their brain is hardwired to react to light

Yes-they tuck their heads under a wing and will sleep until dawn.

How weird my OH asked me this last night!! everytime he goes out on a night they come out and see him, even if its pitch black! then we sit at the window for ages making sure they get back into the house!!

Our sleep at night but also have set nap times during the day. Generally they take it in turns which one stands guard or grooms the others while the others nap - very sweet.

Ours find a sunny or shaded place in the shrubs depending what the weather is like. They never go back into the Cube. It is very funny as one of them likes to sleep on her side with her legs sprawling and another almost on her back with her legs in the air

Our big girls use my back-door mat as a "day bed"...plus anywhere else they have the urge for a nap
