chick wiggle
I was hoping against hope Noodle would give up some time soon as she has been broody over 3 weeks now I finally bit the bullet this afternoon and put her in the cage. how could she give up this freedom For this? I am a bit concerned that the wire on the cage floor (was roof) is a bit too far apart for her feet. I was thinking of putting in some of the wire skirt of the eglu run in there for her. What do you think, or is this defeating the object?

Chicken Shirl
She is a darling Sandie. I would have done the same as you. I'm sure she will snap out of it in a couple of days.
chick wiggle
Oh I hope so Shirl, its breaking my heart to see her in there but i can tell already she has lost weight just from picking her up so she needs to be snapped out of it. Chicken Shirl
I know, it's a shame about the not eating much thing. This time with Princessa I just kept giving her all the things the others have, mealworms and treats as well as her usual feed, and she ate really well the whole six weeks, so not gone down hill at all. She is in the trees for the first time tonight. Just got Little Pingu to sort out in the next day or so, she has been broody for 2 weeks. I wonder which one will be next. Try not to worry. {Hugs} Easy to say I know.x

Chook n Boo Mum
It took 3 days of badtempered stamping from Blossom in the broody cage...actually the run with the house door kept closed so she couldn't get in there to nest or roost.....& she snapped out of it.....I'm weakening this time though & have left a message with a friend who has pairs of Pekins to see if I can get some eggs for her to sit on Noddle is such a pretty girl......shame the friend doesn't have any frizzles nor reds in his flock Sha x

atsw
Nope, no eggies for Noodle hopefully she'll snap out of it tomorrow ? I wish my broody Pekin would. She's been in the 'sin bin' for three weeks now with no sign of giving up. I've even resorted to dunking her in cold water. On the odd occcation when I think I've won, she heads straight back to the nest box. Shutting the door doesn't work, she simply camps out in front of it . Humm. Chicken Shirl
Princessa did the same when she was young, camped out in full sun infront of the pop hole, and believe me that is hot hot hot over here at mid day, and on a concrete floor. They are truly mad when broody. A hen at the Camel Park near us, went broody where they were building new staging for the clients to get on the camels, they were arc welding right in front of her and she never moved for three weeks. She 11 chicks and walked away. Tough, or what. We under estimate these girls of ours.
