The 3 D's
In the morning she was fine, like normal, but when i returned home, less than an hour ago, i went to look at them (2 are broody, well know 1) willow was in there dead! I was totally shocked as she showed no signs of being ill or anything and i was surprised that it was her that has died because i have only seen her coming out and eating, unlike the other one. Do any of you know what may have caused this? There seems to be no injuries on anything on her, apart from a patch of straw that she was sitting on seemed to be a darker colour but when i checked her nothing seemed to stand out I am so shocked and worried that it may happen to the other broody, who has been in there for longer. Egluntyne
Sometimes broody hens can be overwhelmed by red mite, especially If they are not eating and drinking adequately. Perhaps she had a weak heart? Probably one of those things that you won't get to the bottom of. A nasty shock for you all the same.

The 3 D's
Thanks for your comments guys. I guess you are never going to find out the real reason. I never knew that red mite could kill a bird. I didnt see any, mind you i didnt look too close! Matt
