How many chucks per cube?

Recommended Posts

 doh!

I have 5 in mine and I went for most docile breeds Buff Orpingtons and Sussex and they are great together. Egg production is not a priority but the BOs do give me about 4 each a week. Mine don't tend to share the nest boxes so form a que when they all want to lay which may be a problem with more hens. Good luck choosing your chucks :D

I have six in a cube with the extended run, but they do have a large playpen to semi-FR as much as possible when I am at home (see my pics in the Gallery).

They all seem to get on fine but if three are in the nest at the same time I do get a queue and a lot of noise from a couple of the girls that want to lay their eggs when there is no room

Six just means that when they are shut in the cube run they have room to get away from each other if they want to.

Hope this helps :D

Oh yes. We had two pepperpots and two gingernuts from omlet when we first started out and they're great little layers :D

Our WIR was built by our neighbour who's a builder type, and we've got a flagstone base surrounded by a frame of concrete so Mr Fox can't dig through, and weldmesh attached to the wooden frame so he can't bite through either :D

Well I have no chickens yet and haven't Ordered my cube however I was driving today, saw some chickens in someones front garden So I stopped and looked up the drive and It was a cube, my first real life sighting and it looked a lot bigger than I thought. Apologies if it was your garden!!

So I've just been to b and q bought a bit of wood to start making run panels then when it's well underway I'll order an orange cube!! Yes orange, anyone else have this colour?

I'm very excited :-)

Just to let u know, rang my brother (the joiner) this morning, I'd have to wait 2 months for him to make one :-( not good, so I went to b and q bought all the wood and today I have succesfully made all the wooden frames for the run, 14 frames in total for a 3 meters wide by 4 meters long. Just need to treat it now and then get the weldmesh, put it up and then I will order my cubes and chickens woop :-)

2 cuts and a blister on my hand bit will be well worth it in the end :-)
