Dinners in your son

Recommended Posts

I work Wed evening and always put dinner in oven so OH can feed himself and kids with minimal effort. I did a nice Cheese and potato pie - put a lovely pasta salad in fridge. I then did school run, got in - rang OH at work to say whats on menu - and said " oh and pasta salad is in fridge - aaaaah its gone somethings eaten it" at this point ES 14 admitted to the crime and said he'd forgot to have lunch  I mean how do you forget to have lunch - my tummy tells me  Anyway whipped up another salad - mental note - padlock for fridge

Ooh we have an old family recipe for cheese and potato pie - is it the same ? Mash potatoes, add chopped onion and grated cheese , put more grated cheese on top, add sliced tomatoes and then bake in over until golden and crispy. We have it with buttered crusy bread and salad :D

My chees and potato pie hasnt got onions in - its from a "farmhouse cookery book" I inherited off mum. Bit oldey worldly - but contains an egg! and if easy and delish. Will post on "all things nice" when have a mo.

Yes my son is slim and not an ounce of fat unlike moi who struggles to stay slim

My children all eat more than I do, none of them are stick insects but neither are they fat. My DS just grazes constantly, on dried fruit. I keep a bag of raisins in the door of one of my kitchen cupboards and it goes down so fast and the kitchen floor looks like we keep a rabbit

I love having a largish family who are not fussy and eat up their grub, it makes it worthwhile making lots of cake and big meals :D

Ooo is it a creamy coloured book, "Farmhouse Cookery, Recipes from a Country Kitchen", from Readers Digest & opens "landscape" rather than the traditional "portrait" direction......I've got that too..........from my mum as well :D

Goes to look - its called "The Farmhouse kitchen" by Mary Norwak. Sort of greeny creamy colour. i really like it. I did one of those corn snack things from Pets at Home in microwave today for chucks - some was left over - so I stuck a note saying "Chicken food" in it. ES had seen it but left alone. I may do this in future for salads etc - seems to work
