Omlet Chickens

Recommended Posts

I am really sorry if this is answered somewhere, but I can't find it after searching and searching!

I have had my Omet chickens less than a week and I just wondered where they have been brought up until now and what they are used to. Were they in a barn? Are they used to Free ranging? What were they eating?

There is no real reason for my question, just curiosity.

We did have to put them in their Eglu on Day 1, but they did seem to know that they had to go somewhere, so that started me wondering what they were used to!

Thanks for anything you know in advance

That is a great question. I got 2 GRs from Omlet and I also wondered about those sort of things. One of mine had a really badly trimmed beak (i'm in the US, they seem to favour that here) so I wondered if they were kept close together and the trimming was to stop pecking. How squashed in were they?

I also wondered about the food. I am making the effort to feed them only organic products and wondered what they were fed at Omlet.

They were certainly not used to going inside the cube. I had to teach them that but they got it after a few nights. I wonder where they sleep at Omlet?

They did free range right away without prompting.

They will have been bought in by Omlet as either POL or very close I would imagine

They are raised in polytunnels but they are specialist 'correct environment' type things, they wont be used to free ranging but will have had plenty of room in the tunnels (they are spacious)

I dont know where they would have been raised before going to Omlet though
