greyhoundgirl
I've just cleaned out the poo trays on my cube and found lots of black things running around the tray and on the poo. I've had a quick look at the girls and they don't seem to have any (but it was only a quick look). Can anyone tell me what they are and how to get rid of them. I only gave the cude a total washdown last weekend. I've binned all the waste newspaper and Aubiose but am thinking that tomorrow I'll have to do another total clean. Help me please! greyhoundgirl
I'm so obsed that all the clothes are now in the washer and the cube has been totally Red mite powdered again! Can't see any more, they were on the poo not the bedding I think.
abwsco
Could they just be really tiny flies. Doubt it would be red mite as they hide in dark crevices.
greyhoundgirl
They maybe Anne. I was so disgusted by them that I just scooped everything into the carrier bag and then double bagged it all.
meezers
My coops get covered in little tiny black 'fruit 'type flies in summer. Think we had a thread last year about the same thing. They seem to arrive with the warm weather and settle around the poo. They are harmless, just wish they were a little bigger and then the chooks might eat them

I've got two bags of poo ready for next doors gardener and my blackbirds have split the bags open to get to them.
Egluntyne
In the warmer weather you are bound to get little beasties of all sorts in the poo trays. So long as they are emptied and hosed once or twice a week, that should be sufficient.
