craftyhunnypie
Oh I am sooo envious of your day! I really really wanted to come, but yesterday we had our friends round for grub & today we have been doing all chook stuff, ironing & getting the van ready for our hols. The next time - I am definitely going to come! Loving the glass painting. Do we get to see the snotty leaf? The thing I am intrigued by most is the thongs - has anyone got a picture? Omletina Kyckling
The thing I am intrigued by most is the thongs - has anyone got a picture? .............not sure we can post them as there may be young, impressionable Omleteers on here, and besides it was quite chilly to be modelling them on top of my hill Ii just want to thank everybody for coming along, I really enjoyed our time and all the wonderful food and crafting! You Omleteers have made the last seven months survivable and it was just lovely to have some of you to my new cottage as it made it really feel like home! Special big hugs and thanks to Couperwife who really has kept me close to sane over the past months It was lovely to meet you Aimee.....not sure I should ask this, but where is the craft shop?! By the way, I'm typing this on my desktop which is now set up on my newly installed Ikea desk courtesy of Omletstock staff.......then I may go recline on my super padded window seat
mostin
Well you asked for pictures................so here is what I spent all my time slaving over. No longer just a plain pickled onion jar and the other side............ I really enjoyed doing it. I think I will check out some glass paints out on ebay to have another go and perfect my technique

Snowy
Well I had a fabulous time - good friends, good food, good wine, lots of crafting and a view to die for! That picture doesn't do Mostin's painting justice - her little cat had the prettiest gold and green eyes! Here are my pics: Our first task was to sew covers for the window seat, modelled here by Omletina and Couperwife: Couperwife and teddies: I managed to finish my Attic24 chunky ripple blanket (which nearly stayed behind!) Making thongs on the birdtable: Omletina's glass painting: Egluntyne's glass painting: Plum's - alongside tea and cake: Amazing view: Lovely to see you all again, and to meet new faces - Plum and Aimee, and Mum! Diane, thank you again for a wonderful weekend! Your cottage is gorgeous (I didn't want to come home) and I hope you will be very happy there

Snowy
The thongs were waxed leather strings threaded with beads to make bookmarks! They were great, very simple but effective, thanks Plum!
mostin
The window seat was really classy, and I can confirm that it is extremely comfy . The bookmarks were lovely. I didn't get time to make one myself as I spent so long on my glass painting, but Plum very kindly gave us all "one she had made earlier". Very beautiful, thank you . Plum
Glad you enjoyed making them Waxed linen. Here's a thread in case you have forgotten the very complicated instructions. Not as good as yours though http://www.3ddigest.com/crafts/beaded-book-thongs.html
Omletina Kyckling
Ooh thanks for that, Plum! I didn't get to make one as like Mostin, I was still doing my glass painting. I really enjoyed that and hope to do some more soon! Mostin's glass jar painting was really superb, for somebody who claimed to not be crafty she did jolly well!! Still in absolute awe at Plum's quilts.....she was very modest and said it was only a case of being able to sew in a straight line but they were absolutely fabulous.....I tried to snaffle one, along with Snowy's crocheted blanket, but they were too quick for me...... Snowy
Ah, waxed linen, thanks Plum, I knew it was something like that I found some of the glass paints on ebay, I thought they had been discontinued, but apparently not. If you search for glass paints, the ones we used today were Marabou (you can buy them individually or the whole set of colours), Pebeo or Plaid (the ones in squeezy tubes). You will also need outliner paste and paintbrushes. Glass paint search Just realised - you need the waterbased paint which is Marabu Decorglas, not the Marabu Glasart Not as easy to find OY! Hands off my blanky!!

Aimee
The quality of crafts produced was amazing. The glass jars looked so effective - I can't believe some of you had never tried glass piainting before and those fimo chickens were stunning. I didn't dare try the glass painting though for fear of revealing just how bad my drawing skills are. Bailey recently came second to bottom in his whole year group for Art. Let's just say he inherited my abilities there Where the thongs are concerned though....another matter. Am now fully beaded up from my craft shop visit. No waxed thread though so will attempt to source in Huddersfield tomorrow. The craft shop I went to is Samuel Taylor's in Brighouse. It has a fairly good selection of all things crafty (except waxed thread ). Although it's a mile or so out of the town it has Kershaws garden centre on the same site and a perfectly reasonable coffee shop, so worth a visit. Look forward to meeting you all again. Aimee
Some of my lovely beads. There's a bit too much blue/purple going on though.... I'll have to invest in a broader colour spectrum. Oh, and your link to the step-by-step guide has made me want metal charms too
