Have just set some Buff Sussex eggs under Maud, my relentlessly broody Speckledy.

 

Am giddy with excitement.

So exciting!! I wish my broody had been more dedicated...it must be so nice to know they're being looked after...I'm fretting so much about my incy eggs that I keep forgetting the excitement!!

 

Has she hatched before?

Cheers everyone. She has managed to crack one so we are down to eight, but she is being very attentive, and mightily indignant when I boot her off the nest for a comfort break.

Have you candled any eggs? I've lost track of which day we're on.

 

I put a wee pot of Garvo Alfamix in the eglu when they are sitting. Along with booting them off twice a day, it makes sure that they eat and maintain some sort of condition.

Not looking good. On day 23 now. Initial candling at day 10 looked promising. Now only a couple look as if they might still have possibilities.

 

Maud is still sitting tight, so I'll hot foot over to Whirlow Hall Farm tomorrow and see if I can pick up some day olds to put under her.
