what next!!!! need a holiday

Recommended Posts

of late its obviously been my turn to be harrassed by various folks  mother, receptionists, general public  I normally cope very well with what life throws at me and Im due to go on holiday on Saturday for 2 weeks, and its just as well :clap::clap: I cant go into personal details but no matter how ill you are you are allowed to refuse admission to hospital & not take medicines, even if you are pregnant & diabetic, it may not make any sense to us but you do have the right to chose. I now find myself the subject of a critical event enquiry where accusations have been made by another health professional, based upon mis understanding & ignorance of the facts. I am happy that nothing will come of it because I really have not done anything wrong. My Drs are furious and being totaly supportive, Im just so ticked off and saddened that some people have their heads jammed so firmly up their own bottoms that they cannot see what they are doing.

Oh dear, poor you - sounds as if you really need a holiday! I'm glad to hear that your own doctors are supporting you, no doubt the other party has jumped to conclusions. I hope it's all been clarified by the time you come back.

Sorry to hear this Tiggy, yet another thing you don't need. As others have said, at least the docs are supportive - I know how that feels and it makes such a difference! Try not to worry and make the most of your holiday break. xx

thanks everyone, my Drs are planning a response to the situation and I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of it, goodness me, all out war, I dont think Ive seen GPs so fired up. The MDU are poised to take action if an official appology does not come my way  the accusations are of serious proffessional mis conduct & are totally untrue, I was so worried & upset but now I realise how respected and valued i am. Im not one for boasting & get embarrassed but this has really boosted my confidence, in a funny way Im glad now its happened, normally I just go to work do my job & generally plod along, its not often your work mates show such solid support. THANKYOU DOCs :clap::clap:

its all gone very quiet since my Drs replied to the complaint letter, Im waiting for the response, hopefully that the case has been closed, I do hope the facts are circulated as widely as the origional complaint letter, it seems to have been sent to so many people in the local hospital with my name all over it :(

the holiday was brill, people lovely although I dont think I can cope with any more bob Marley for a while

Tiggy you have my sympathy as yrs ago (I think we are both practice nurses) a pt complained about me. Sorry guys but its a girl thing and to cut a long story short she bled after her smear and I was accused of being heavy handed (most pts remark on my gentleness) and she was complaining left right and centre. The GP I worked for called her bluff and rang A&E to check she had attended after she told the whole waiting room I was on a par with Jack the ripper. It all petered out as it was obvious it was all lies. Good luck enjoy the holiday and forget work. Ali x ( PS this happened over 15yrs ago)

Thanks Alis girls, yes we are both practice nurses, sounds as if your GPs were supportive too, some people are just horrible. The patient here is just hopeless & ignores her diabetes all the time, but it was the DSN that has caused the problem. Hopefull she will end up with egg on her face with any luck, seems to have a real problem with practice nurses, I presume she thinks we all just make tea and stick on a few plasters all day

Glad to hear it's all gone quiet Tiggy, it's a horrible situation to be in. After all, we spend all our time trying to help people and yes we can make mistakes like anyone, but to be unfairly accused of something like that really makes a mockery of the job we do, it's a thankless job at the best of times! But I'm glad there has been a positive side for you - Well done Tiggy's Docs! 8)
