midori
We went to Buckingham Palace on Friday for my husband's investiture, where he was presented the Military Cross for actions in Afghanistan. I have to admit, I am not 'into' the Royal Family 'thing' myself, but I am/was hugely proud of my husband and so, so happy for him on his big day. Plus, it's the only chance I have ever had to wear a hat! The palace itself was amazing too, I have to admit. As my husband was in his No.1's (best uniform, I suppose) he got a bit of attention as we were entering/leaving the palace, and a few crazy tourists wanted to take my husband's photo, which was embarrassing enough. Then a lovely Canadian chap came over and was asking why my husband had been to the palace, and they had a bit of a conversation about Afghan etc. Then my Mother In Law said loudly 'would you like your photo taken with Simon?' My husband looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him, the poor Canadian tourist was clearly trying to think of a way to say no without offending, but couldn't think of anything to say, so them followed mny MIL snatching him camera in order to take a photo of him with my husband. I bet the poor chap has either deleted the photo or will be telling his family and friends about the crazy English woman who forced him to have his photo taken with her son! patsylabrador
Fantastic! You must have had a wonderful day. Big Congratulations to your husband. I am a fan of the Royal Family, mainly because governments come and go but their support for the Armed Forces never wavers. I try not to be an embarrassing mother but I know I am. Again, congratulations!
