my hubby is a business Auditor, and i advised him of your problem and he said basically the guy is having you on

he deals with this type of stuff all the time and he said if the name was exactly the same or if you retailed in the same sector and the names sounded similar, then he may have a case against you if he could prove he has been trading under his name for longer. but since the name isn't the same and you trade in different sectors, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

if you are still concerned then do an Experian search on his company - which will tell you how long the company has been trading under that specific name (*only how long he has been trading under his current name is relevant, even if the same company has traded under a very similar previous name).

but basically he just laughed when i showed him your post and said the bloke is having you on. so i wouldn't worry about it at all and if he contacts you again (not through a solicitor) then tell him you will report him for harrassment if he does not leave you alone.
