Wyandotte Bantams -grown up and house pimped

Recommended Posts

Ooo

Silver Pencilled are a stunning and very attractive colour. Very pretty and seem not to be as prone to broodiness as some other colours (Silver Laced for example). Here's a pic of one of my girls..

Partridge are a lovely colour, every feather is edged with black and they have a lovely gold base colour, here's one of my Partridge Hens...

Good luck and let me know how you get on :)

Thats is, I've decided Wyandottes are the way forward - any colour!! They are just so gorgeous!

Aren't they just? The silver pencilled ones are stunning...I've heard people mention them but had never actually seen one!!

While I wouldn't part with my girls, there is a small part of me wishes I'd been more patient before going out and buying them!! Though, I was probably too amazed that my OH agreed to getting hens!!

I could've cried a fortnight ago. I'd just set 12 CLB eggs to hatch when a work colleague offered me some silver laced wyandottes that he'd just hatched!!! There definitely will be tears if none of the remaining CLB eggs hatch...and then I'll go begging at his door!!

Poor Joe Bugner, I bet that was why got her :D

It was :D she was going to be despatched because she wasn't up to standard... sucker me

They are good hardy birds and out of all the minis/bantams are probably the easiest to keep. I really loved the buff columbian 'dotte I had, but she died of Marek's  The shape is just what I like; I nice rounded hen with plenty of feathers, but enough leg to keep their bodies out of muck and away from too many lice.

I've just brought two ickle chickens home. They are so tiny and cheeping. One is silver pencilled but most of the feathers look barred at the moment, presumably they change as they grow. The other is a partridge and has blue in her so guess she's blue partridge. Bit like a tiny Motmot. :D

Ooooo only just seen this thread. I am looking to get a silver laced wyandotte (BTW how do you pronounce that?). Have phoned Harry's Happy Hens in Blackburn about a month ago, but they had all gone. He said to ring in 6 weeks - couldn't wait so rang yesterday. His lovely wife (I think) said he would phone back but he didn't..................don't like to fuss but think I will phone again tomorrow. They are all soooooooo beautiful. Does anyone know how they integrate with existing chooks?
