Mercedes55
There is a LF Silver Pencilled but they are quite rare. My Bantams lay around 200-220 eggs a year and they do go broody. Egg size is roughly in between a small bantam (pekin) and a LF egg. See I am non the wiser as I have no idea how big a small bantam egg is and no idea either what an LF is My ex batts are laying eggs that weigh between 65grams and 76grams, so I am guessing they will be smaller than that
The Dogmother
They are feathering up nicely Plum Wyandottes lay eggs between 35g (when they first start laying) and 60g, they are mostly a light beige colour.
jill the potter
soooo pretty. How old did you say they were?
Plum
Maybe 8-9 weeks but could be younger. The mums disappeared and returned with chicks, about a week between them. Claret their feathers are quite fuzzy will they get any clearer. Hen is loosing some feathers. The breader said the shape on them will change as they get older. I've been trying to find something about it by googling but failed at present. Also I am giving them growers pellets and water, should I give them veg and supplements? At what age can they cope with mixed poultry corn etc., etc., Can anyone recommend a book to help me? All mine talk about chicks then full grown hens, I'm missing the bit in between. Or am I just making a meal of it
scarlettohara
Mine are on growers and have had a drop of lifeguard in the water, I gave them a tiny piece of cucumber which they loved poking round but didn't really eat it As they are in the eglu they get to peck the grass which they seem to enjoy. I made a bigger run around the eglu yesterday so they could explore a bit and the pekin jumped straight up onto the eglu roof - think she may be a problem
Plum
Thanks SOH I'll try them with a bit of something this afternoon then.
tom123
They'll be fine with corn Plum. They will be will out quite a lot when they start laying becoming rounder and more curvy.

The markings on quite a few breeds change dramatically between hatching and being fully feathered. my baby gold laced chicks currently look nothing like their eventual colouring.
