jill the potter
Thanks, Tom - would you recommend them as easy to integrate with existing hens? Have a warren and a blackrock at the moment.
Lewis
Look great We have Audrey the Barred Dotte # The intro's will have to be done slowly, and the new hen will have to be POL age You might be best intro'ing 2 to your two too
karlotta
Gosh they are gorgeous!!! Think I NEED some bantie wyandottes! Now where can I get them round here? Sorry to hijack the thread, but as I've got so many Wyandotte experts all together.... I hatched what I was told was a SIlver Laced Wyandotte (LF) 11 weeks ago and she (ever the optimist!) is definitely barred instead! I don't think the breeder has barred so is this a recessive gene that some Silver laced can have? I'll grab some pics later on for the obligatory sexing! Again soory!!!! Mercedes55
They are just gorgeous. We are thinking of increasing our flock once we have our WIR at the end of next month and thought it would be nice to get a couple of 'posh' birds. I see someone has already asked if they would mix with a Warren which is what we have as they are ex batts It's hard to see on the pics what size they are, can anyone give an idea of how big they are compared to a Warren or similar bird of that size
Plum
Hope they do, they need to mix with mine when they are grown up. They grow to be a larger bantam, in my book 3lb but some don't look as big. Redwing suggested them to me (she has a bit of a thing about them. scarlettohara
She's really cute as well Mine are very nervous and not come out yet this morning though I have removed them from the cat carrier now and they shot into their house. Mine were for the first couple of days - now they let me hold them and completely ignore the mad barking terrier who sits next to the eglu all day

tom123
They really are lovely, I have a bit og a thing for them. Have to collect every colour! (Almost there!) Introductions will be the same as any other breed, take it slowly and go at their pace. There's a thread on the 'About Chickens' section to help with introductions. Redwing
Smashing Plum they are georgeous! i do have a thing about Wyandotte bantams - they account for about three quarters of my flock
jill the potter
Oooo Plum you lucky thing. I have been after a silver laced for ages but everyone you phone says 'they've all gone' and 'I can't breed enough of them' and because I am so impatient I have put my name down for a light sussex and a hybrid called a 'sandy' which is part CLB. The other reason I decided not to get a bantam was I thought it might get picked on by the others with it being smaller. Whereabouts are the wyandottes ? migsy
You can get wyandottes from garden-hens.co.uk and http://www.storrspoultry.co.uk/prices.php. Don't know if they have any in stock though!
Plum
At the end of the garden couldn't take any good pictures today they have been in hiding apart from a quick excursion to have some pellets and another to have a panic attack while I was weatherproofing their area. Hope they come out tomorrow. Right so they came from Ashover, Derbyshire are you tempted. Not so far from you, he breeds different colours and silver laced Had a lot of cockerals this year though. He's setting a lot of eggs this weekend you could put your name down.

Mercedes55
What are wyandottes like for laying? Good question, I would like to know what size eggs they lay as I am guessing they will be on the small side
Plum
I'll let you know in about 6 months

Tutti Frutti
Do they do LF pencilled? (showing my ignorance here! ) I fancy a Buff Sussex too... does the list never end?
tom123
There is a LF Silver Pencilled but they are quite rare. My Bantams lay around 200-220 eggs a year and they do go broody. Egg size is roughly in between a small bantam (pekin) and a LF egg.
Plum
I was a bit mean this afternoon and shut the door to their house so they had to stay out Their run was made of dismantled cube run (can you recognize any parts?) and made into isolation run by a cut up vinyl banner The lid lifts up so I can walk in and they fly out Luckily the biggies just stared at them in amazement- good girls
