Janepie33
Have just got back from dropping a couple of old sofas off at DS's new abode. He is studying at Sparsholt College and will be sharing a house in Stockbridge in Hampshire with 4 other guys. I'd never been to Stockbridge before and didn't know what to expect. It's beautiful! Had a wonderful meal in a lovely pub before we came home. Does anybody live around that area?
Patricia W
Well, we live 50 miles away, but Winchester is my favourite shopping centre. It's a lovely area and I'm sure he'll love the college Tricia
Janepie33
He does love it. He's just going into his second year. We had planned to visit him last year and spend a night at a hotel in lovely Winchester but we just didn't get round to it. Maybe next year........... bluekarin
Stockbridge is lovely! I live about 20 mins drive from there. Not really been to look around properly until about a month ago when hubby was working in the gallery there and I had a chance to mosey round the shops There is a gorgous craft shop where I discovered a potter with the same spelling first name as me
Valkyrie
We love Stockbridge too. The water meadows are nice to wander across (watch out for bogginess in wet weather though), but it's the fish in the river in the main street - they are huuuuge! Of course every month or so there is an alpaca clothing sale in the village hall - they have a model alpaca outside when they do. It's very hard not to go by a few times to stroke the big toy. And the flower/gardening shop - lots of chickeny bits and unusual things there. The kitchen shop is very interesting too.
Christian
15 minutes from me I love the Garden Inn shop and spend far too many pennies there. Did you eat in the pub at the end of the High Street? The 4 Bells? (possibly)?
Janepie33
What a lovely part of the world you live in! I think the pub was called the White Hart. It was off a roundabout just before the high street.
Hen_Pecked
I've driven through there almost every day for the last four years on my way to work, but never stopped. I presume it's worth a visit then?
greyhoundgirl
Try The Greyhound next time. But get a second mortgage first!!
Christian
Definitely worth a visit! The Garden Inn is lovely if a tad pricey, and there is a nice card shop further down the road, plus Broughton Crafts.......all nice little shops for extra special things. jlo
There are some lovely walks around the area and it is a great street to wander up and down. We are about half an hour away. Last year the kids and I did a bike ride around the area and found a garden with a pink eglu in it not so far away - anyone owning up??
