katebajic
I've noticed this morning that one of my hens has developed a wheeze and seems to be having difficulty breathing. She has laid this morning and is eating a little but is not as active as the others and her droppings are a bit loose. I've added some citrocidal to the drinking water but don't really know what else I can do/give her to help. Has anyone experienced any thing similar with their hens? Egluntyne
COuld be that she has a respiratory infection. Does she sound rattly close up? You could try Respite if you can get hold of some, or ask a vet to look at her to see if she needs antibiotics.
katebajic
Hi, thanks for your suggestion. She sounds more gaspy than rattly but I'll try and get hold of some Respite and see if that helps.
katebajic
I've now taken her to the vet and she's been on antibiotics for 24hrs but though she will eat tiny bits of sweetcorn and pasta she won't touch her mash/pellets and she's not drinking anything. I'm worried about her getting dehydrayted, do you think I should try and force her to drink from a syringe or just leave her so she doesn't get too stressed out? I've ordered some Respite and am hoping that will come today so I can give her some of that too.
