Have a bargain sim only contract with Te$co, so looking for handset only (or PAYG and then unlock it).

HTC Desire is soo 8) but £500 + being a student = nono

... so looking at smaller HTC Wildfire for £215 :D

Reccommendations or otherwise please - need to have a play with Android + see if I get on with it really

You already know I am a fan !

Have been since getting a Magic a couple of years ago........the hubby and daughters all have them too now.

I love the way they work alongside my Google calendar and Facebook.

Typing this from my lovely new Desire, which arrived today.

Sooooooooo much better than iphones

Its there then? 8)

Have been reading loads of reviews + all are positive, some moaning about silly shaped chargers dying(?) and about screen resolution ... think I'm sold though :D

Lot of money just for a phone

Bit weary of buying a phone on ebay but will have a gander :D

I personally would not buy a phone from ebay Lewis. Better from a shop, as you have back up if it's not perfect. There are so many scamsters on ebay to do with high priced technology, it's best avoided for those purchases.

HTC are better than iphones I have to say. My hubby has a compettition every Tuesday with his mate. Hubby has HTC desire, mate has latest iphone. Each have to try & download an app. The HTC wins hands down. Hubby has recently got an app for his which allows his phone to become a Wifi dongle. So we can both go on our netbooks, using his unlimited internet access of his phone...fabulous!

I'd sell some old stuff Lewis & save for a HTC.

There are three of us at work with Desires  plus somebody else with another HTC vs only 2 iPhones.

I love my Desire... so nice to use and good looking too. Just didn't fancy an iPhone... don't really know why.

But try Clove Technology.

They're selling them for "only" £390, not £500. I bought mine from there cos I also have a decent Sim only contract I didn't want to lose. Customer service is good... I knew it was out of stock when I ordered but the web-site had an expected "in-stock" date. However, it actually arrived with me before the web-site said they were back in stock. :?

I was lucky with mine.

I went into Phones 4 U,where I generally get my upgrades,& all they could offer me was an upgrade that would cost me an extra £10 a month.

So I phoned Vodafone, they upgraded me & my 2 girls,we all now have unlimited internet access & texts,& its costing me £5 LESS a month, plus I got a free phone.

It might be worth looking into a new contract,if you can get out of your old one.......

My OH has just got a Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro, which is an andriod phone and he loves it. He keeps downloading free games and gets annoyed that I beat his high scores on word games in minutes after he had spent hours beating my previous score.

He too liked the look of the HTC phones, but one of his business partners has one so he didn't want the same phone and I think the Mini Pro was cheaper too and he negotiated a 1 year contract with Vodafone whereas his partner has 18 months. One of his other partner has the new iphone, but it seems that there are less iphone fans out there now

I'm sold!

Have bid on a few Wildfire and Desires on ebay but stopped early 'cos still watching a few ... want the Desire but not the price-tag so ebay bargains seem the way forward

Know I shouldn't but on ebay but if it saves £100 I'll risk it :anxious:

If don't get one in a couple of days I'll just go to a shop

Thanks all :D

I'd only buy something like that off a seller with 100% , no negatives, no neutrals & at least 4.9 on each star. I don't ask for much do I? But seriously, you could be ripped off & I wouldn't want that. Oh & don't buy from a newish seller - you want one who has been on their for a good while, with quite a reasonable amount of feedback. Pay by paypal, so you get protection.

Good luck.
