crankycookie
I got some ivomec to deworm my chickens, but I think Peaches might be starting to moult. Is it okay to deworm while moulting, or should I wait so it's less stressful on her system? I've never been through a moult before, so I'm not sure what it looks like when it's starting out. I am certainly noticing more loose feathers coming off from her neck and chest. Here's Peaches (who has had a baldy belly for a little while now): A bit of bald chest peeking through Bald chest and belly And some feather loss around the neck. Is this a moult? Egluntyne
Definitely looks like the start of a moult. That top picture is fascinating. She looks as if she is about to burst into song. I see no reason why you can't worm her at the moment. The only times I would think twice would be if she was on other medication, or ill. abwsco
That first picture is brilliant She looks like she's ready to do a tightrope walk to me-lol
The Dogmother
It depends on the severity of the moult - those birds look to be having a light moult, so no reason why you couldn't worm them. If their moult was severe, then they'd need all their strength and I wouldn't worm them until after they'd finished as it might be too much for their system to cope with
