Attaching Cube only to WIR..how is yours fixed ?

Recommended Posts

Hi

How have you attached your Cube (no run) to your WIR and do you have any pics please of what yours looks like. I have seen some already posted but cant find them now need to show hubby how done (should have bookmarked  ). I have seen a pic posted on here of someones cube where they have allowed/cut out space for the cube roof to be pushed forward... especially would love to see that again.

Many thanks for help, will carry on looking too. xxx

We made a panel with a gap but kickboards at the bottom and OH cut a shape in plywood and fixed it on the outside above the cube. I then made a panel to fit under the ladder to block that part.

and from outside

I've since put some extra pieces of 2x2 to fill the gaps each side of the ladder :D The roof slides forward fine.

thank you both for taking time to help me with my query. Its so kind of you and now have something visual to show hubby ready for next stage of getting WIR ready. :D:D they are both fantastic ways of fixing a cube next to WIR.

Roll on Sunday (and good weather) so can put it together. Woohoo :lol:

I like that idea too, leaving the runners off. Havent put our cube together yet so probably will do that, I can see it will make it a lot easier when its butted up to the WIR.

Cant wait to make a start on it all tomorrow. Got a 10km race to do first thing, then once back.... it will be cube putting together day..:dance::dance: and then see how much more of the WIR we can do too.

Egg-citing weekend. :lol::lol::lol:

Here's what we did with my WIR - as the cube is pushed up against the mesh on the outside we couldn't attach the ladder directly to the cube - as when access was needed to the roosting bars for cleaning the cube wouldn't be able to be moved backwards and the roof forwards if the ladder was attached to the cube.

So we cut the back of the ladder off - sounds drastic but there's a seam, in the plastic, near where the fixings holes are and then fixed the ladder to the WIR frame for the green cube

or a block of wood fixed to the WIR for the purple.

Just love the throwaway comment "Got a 10km race to do first thing"

LOL let me re-phrase that.... I have got a 10km plod/walk to do with the emphasis on the walking :lol::lol: . I am pretty rubbish at it and expect to be last over the finishing line.:lol::lol: Only started doing it earlier this year.

I usually do go for for a plod on a sunday morning on my own round the streets, but had an urge to embarrass myself and stupidly entered a race. I might have to try a bit harder tomorrow cause the sooner I get back the sooner can make a start on the cube. :D

I was going to make a thread but found this one on search - very helpful! 8)

I planned on making a frame and cutting through the 2 WIR panels to have a gap at the top so the cube roof can slide forwards, and also a smaller pop hole for the cube door, with the ladder attached on the inside of the WIR.

Was hoping it will look something like MummyHens (cube green) so I can shut it if I decide I want the cube in a different place, or for any reason

Now I'm wondering if I need to bother with the hole at the top?

I could always wheel the cube back, or I didn't even think about taking the runners off!

Feel free if others have photos or ideas to share! :D

We have the cube pushed up against the mesh, OH did make a gap to slide the roof forward but found out that was how the rats were getting in.

So have now meshed that up and have removed the sliders inside the cube which held the roof on, and just lift roof up and unclip back panel.

Roof doesnt move as weighs a ton, works well for me.

Did get the idea from off forum last year, might have been Scarlett as she was so helpful helping me to decided if to upgrade to the cube.

LOVE IT.
