bronze
Kate do what I'm doing (next year now I think) and just do it dont ask. I'm hatching my own though. It was something I was considering but Martin got there first

Guest
Lesley - poor Carl! That must have been scary. I hope he isn't in too much pain now. And you've lost at least 3 bees!
theherd123
And you've lost at least 3 bees! Oh Ginette that did make me giggle! Its great to catch up Lesley and i do hope Carl is ok and not too traumatised after the bee affair I shouldn't laugh but The sheep look ready for the summer - so come on sun get your act together! Lesley
Martin - we did have two eggs yesterday - the photo was rubbish though and I forgot to say. Two little quail eggs!!!!!!! Carl is fine today - but two of the stings are painful, his leg really hurts. We did remove all of the sting so he should be OK. We lost 5 bees
Guest
Because the actual sting carries bacteria, obviously, it is possible for the site to become infected, so watch out for an increase in pain/itchiness. Anti-histamines work really well. Poor Carl
Lesley
I didn't know that Ginette - thank you. I'll give him a couple of my anti-histamines then as one has flared up quite badly.
Laura & CTB
Ouch poor Carl - tell him to have another glass of wine to help him feel better Oh - and have one for the sofa too
Egluntyne
Aren't you supposed to dab bee stings with vinegar. Poor Carl!
Mel (& Paul)
poor old carl large glass of wine and two anti-histimines are the only cure
Cate in NZ
Aren't you supposed to dab bee stings with vinegar. Poor Carl! No, bees with bicarb, vinegar for "vasps" (imagine a Greta Garbo style accent ) I do agree, poor Carl though, sounds nasty. Well worth trying anti-histamines, might have no effect at all of course, but can really calm down any inflammation and itching...... do give them a go
Martin B
2 eggs! Fantastic! I'm so pleased, that I have given you 2 females and not cocked up like I did myself!
The Dogmother
Poor Carl, but I admit that I'd have laughed my head off after taking the photo. Rosie got stung at the Royal show yesterday, but all fine; she'd not been stung before so I had her sitting quietly with some Piriton and on obs until I was sure that she was fine. Don't forget that you're supoosed to brush bee stings off not pluck them - plucking can squeeze the rest of the venom into the wound. Lesley, are you around on Sunday? I haven't seen Lily for ages and I need to collect that frozen chicken (sorry for having left it for so long) I'd love to see the quail too. Lesley
Don't worry Debs - i'm still laughting He wouldn't take any antihistamines yesterday but he has taken them today as the pain wouldn't go. Clare - may be busy Sunday - won't know until Thursday or Friday though. I'll let you know.
Lesley
Do you think there might be a pot of gold? ...... we could certainly do with it! This was a whole rainbow - we could see all of it - really magical I love rainbows.
Mrs Frugal
No, but you might just find an egg at the end of that particular rainbow .
Lesley
Meet the latest additions - thanks to Martin! Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Saffron the hens, with Spice the cock bird. We started with a trio but went and collected Saffron last night. The first two eggs.....
The Dogmother
Awww they are lovely Lesley - you've got me all broody; I shall have to clear that wood in my garden and see if I can get some housing from someone.... I love rainbows too - real 'fairy work' aren't they? Let's hope some of the luck rubs off

Lesley
We've been playing that puzzle game again Clare - the one where you move all the squares around BB bantam and her half grown chicks have moved out into the bantam run, Lily and her two little chicks have moved into the Green Eglu and run in the same area. The quial are now in the wooden ark where Lily was. I have just found an aviary suitable for the quail - double safety door and not to expensive. When that arrives, it will be by the feed shed and easily accessible
