Only had my girls since July and haven't been able to get any aubiose at all during that time, due to a shortage of the raw materials (apparently). anyway, my local horsey place recommended rapasorb which I'm guessing is the same as/similar to rappor (chopped rape straw) and I'm really pleased with it. I think it was about £7 which is loads cheaper than aubiose and although I've never had any aubiose to compare it with, I'll definitely be buying rapasorb again, a bale goes a very long way and smells very nice too!!

We've had problems getting Aubiose recently as well because of the hold up with supply. In addition our local supplier has decided to stop selling it.

Our other supplier where we get our organic layers pellets can normally get it but had difficulties and they also do a variety of other bedding.

We've bought a bale of Easibed as so many people on the forum use it, but have access to Hemcore and a flax-based product.

We'll have to wait to see how the Easibed goes as it's in the garage at the moment, but if there's not much difference in the quality we certainly like the cheaper price AND the dust-free properties. Always ended up coughing when laying Aubiose. Organic systems approved too!

It is almost confusing, the array of bedding that's available.

I'd be interested to hear what you think of Easibed - a friend used it but said that it didn't absorb poo and damp as well as Aubiose/Hemcore.

I am waiting for a call from my stockist to tell me that Aubiose is back in *drums fingers*

Will certainly give feedback... and we're heading for the dampest part of the year so should be a good test.

what is aubiose? If it is a floor covering I found a really good tree surgeon who gave me wood chippings just cut for free! However as these soon became a soggy pongy mess when it rained I decided to line the exposed part of the run with a butyl liner and put a thick layer of pea gravel down. My thinking was I could lift that and rinse it through an old pond planting basket and then scrub the butyl liner. I only put the butyl liner and gravel down today so I will let you know how I get on. The girls haven't seen it yet because they were busy wrecking my garden when I was working on theirs. I put the gravel down in the dark but they had deemed it time to go to bed by then. They did however, help me dig down the 4 inches of the run ready for the liner but felt my flower beds were much more interesting when it came to laying the liner. The hen house itself has newspaper covering the floor to it and then covered with staw which is freshened up daily.
