Omletina Kyckling
I've not posted my bits for a while on here so thought I'd put on some bits I've been felting... I made some felt booties a while ago. They are felted burgundy merino wool on the inside and they are grey Swedish Gotland wool on the outside. Gotland wool is co"Ooops, word censored!"r and is very warm and water resistant. They were made as one piece around a last, and then cut in half to form two boots. I have sewn a leather sole onto each boot so I can wander out to the bins etc. and they are super toasty warm!! I have also made a set of tablemats and drinks coasters. My favourite thing to felt is poppy designs as they are so lovely and cheerful!! and finally my winter scarf. This is made using a method called nunofelting whereby you felt wool into a base material, which has to be thin with an open weave so the wool can attach itself to it, in this case thin ponge silk. I died the silk first with a red dye and also dyed some red mulberry unspun silk at the same time. I then felted black wool into the silk and felted a poppy design onto it, partly by needle felting and by wet felting. The scarf is only just felted so it remains very soft and drapes well. I've worn it quite a lot and really love it! I am planning to make a wrap skirt with the same poppy design on it, felting wool into cotton gauze which I've already dyed red!! bluekarin
They are lovely! You are very clever I think I could do with some of your boots, as its a tad chilly here. Maybe I should just shut the back door ; but the air is so fresh

Guest
Oh my these are stunning. I saw you wearing the most fabulous poppy wrap around necklace in a photo on here somewhere - so you have an Etsy shop featuring your work for sale? I haven't got around to making stuff to sell on Etsy as yet. Perhaps that is something for the cold winter nights!
