Motoring/driving rant....

Recommended Posts

I'm learning to drive at the moment - I've got my test in early december. The amount of people that are rude and drive dangerously just to try and scare me because im'm a learner is pretty appalling. :( Whats even worse is that most of them actually go out of their way to get me to do something stupid. I stalled quite spectacularly today on a roundabout today (I tried to pull off in third gear - i thought i was in first  ) and this man comes really fast around the roundabout really fast and does an emergency stop a couple of metres from my car! It was so terrifying! He could clearly see me and it wasn't a busy roundabout! :(

Phew I feel a bit better now!

Megan,I bet you are learning on all the same routes my daughter is - The Black Boy roundabout is a nightmare for her & she can't get to grips with it at all

Devon has had some dreadful things happen to her when learning. Her instructor told me that I bloke in a van (its always a bloke in a van :? ) pushed his way through one of those traffic calming things towards her, when she had right of way the other day

Good luck with the test, it's very sad to see that so many drivers have such short memories (they were learners once)?

In heavy traffic, I always leave a gap at junctions etc, as you should. However,I was once stuck in a queue of traffic and left a space in front of me for vehicles to access a busy hospice. Boy racer behind couldn't understand what the gap was for so pipped and tooted, and when I didn't move he drove around me to fill the gap. Next vehicle coming the other way wanted to access the hospice :wall:

its worse in London - I had words with a guy in a big car who I suspct learnt to drive on in Europe - he was on my side of road - I pipped and flashed my lights and he was rude and abusive so I opened window and said "thats your side this i mine" I had a carful of male teens who were shouting "go mum go " from my son and "go Mrs K go " from sons mates - the guy took one look at noisey crowd and shot off. Very handy having burly 14 yr olds on your side esp when they could pass for 16. The worse drivers here are women in big black 4x4's - they have a bad attitude and cant drive the blooming things

Alisgirls, what part of London, NW London mums with their massive schoolrun cars are a nightmare. Distracted by their phones, highmaintenance, sawyoucoming women and whitevanman drivers vie for supremacy. People with licences from all around the world compete with people who are so old they never had to take a test. And every road has works. Makes driving such fun!
